Which 2 stroke oil are you using in diesel??
Title says it all really.
A personal choice - I have been adding 2T to the tank for a long time now but I am coming towards the end of the stock left in the garage from my 2T biking days so am going to have to go buy it soon enough. Any recommendations on which brand and which supplier is the best value for this purpose?? I don't mind buying bulk if the deal is there.
Feel free to PM me if you prefer - just after a bit of advice, cheers

The thing which would worry me is that 2 stroke oil in the shops is designed for petrol. The petrol acts as a solvent to mix the oil. Diesel is oil and oils of differing type don't mix well in the short term or need high pressure, which isn't in the tank. 2 stroke oil will burn by itself, so will work, but if it isn't mixed properly I wonder if there is any damage long term.

Trying to get this back to topic............
I am just interested in which oil people are using - the debate about why?, is it good? pros/cons etc can be found elsewhere
Like I said its a personal choice what fuel you use and what (if anything) you add to it

It is, but I assume you have a 'spare engine' when yours dies
(modern engines are built to very close tolerances, and are designed to work using very specific oils, fuels etc)
Anyway, as you quite rightly said, it's personal choice Never get mad - get even !!

I use the cheapest 2 stroke from Halfords, to answer your question. I think it's about £5 a litre.
There's a v long thread on this site about this, which is worth a read. Hopefully it'll spare the myriad questions/comments about using 2 stroke, but I doubt it
I've used it for a long time in classic cars, I think to good effect. I know that in the D3, the car is quieter and starts with less chatter. It also reduces the smoke (although since the EGR valves have been done there's v little smoke anyway).
Just to really put the knife in to those who'll throw a wobbly reading about adding 2 stroke oil to diesel, adding Auto Tranny Fluid (ATF) to older (my experience is 60's cars) petrol engines in small quantities and running it for about 5-10 mins before an oil change will very quickly de-coke the engine and leave it sparkling. It has great cleaning properties! (But have no idea whether it would work with a diesel engine, and have no intention of trying it).PAGODA

Curiosity has got the better of me. Why add 2stroke oil to diesel?

I have been on 'The Dark Side' (in many ways) for years so need no convincing about using the stuff - as always there will be opposing views but

I did go to the dark side and have a read,
as mentioned it is own choice to use or not, whethewr it works or not I do not know, some people claim to hear a diferance in the engine sound maybe because they are listning more closly.
So if it trully does improve performance, in my opinion why has none of the top oil companys added it to thier fuel, so has to sell more diesl than thier competitors.
I feel that they only put in good stuff, so after years of testing, they must no what they are doing.
So if not broke why fix.
