Which C-TEK Battery Charger??
Hi,
Battery was rather laboured this morning and came up with some faults, which cleared themselves. Not had any other battery problems so intend to invest in a C-TEK charger this afternoon but not sure which one I need. I can get either the -
XS800 for £40 or the XS3600 for £60. Would the cheaper one be ok for the D3 or not. I see 12v and info on Amps and suddenly I go blank.

Trouble is that this cold weather shows up the batteries faults, certainly if it's on it's way out.
Mine was similar, so invested in a new battery. Perfect since.

Go for the 3600 as it has other features the 800 doesn't. Although the 800 is fine for the Amp of the D3 battery (85 Amp battery ISTR) Bodsys Brake Bible

Forgot to mention that money is an object Slimer Thanks though
In the past I would normally just buy a new battery but I've read great things on here about CTEK chargers and with having more than one car in the household I'll hopefully get multiple benefits from having a good charger rather than just sorting the D3 out, especially if SWMBO's Beemer has similar problems over the winter as I'll be able to stay in her good books rather than being called a selfish Bd Badda bing.......How you doin'?

I've also been looking at buying a CTek recently, but the XS25000 is a bit more than I wanted to spend....
Is there any reason to justify getting it over, say the XS 7000 ?
Prices:
XS 7000: 140 EUR
XS 25000: 250 EUR
I want to use it for both the D3 and another car, an optima yellow top and a marine battery.2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

The number refers to the current rating of the charger (in milliamps), so a XS25000 is 25A, and XS7000 a 7A charger.
What this really means is that a XS7000 will take longer to charge than an XS25000.
An XS800 is mainly designed to keep a "toy" car trickle charged. Not heard of the Zafir before, but again they look like mainly trickle or occasional use chargers (low current). If you did really get a genuine Zafir 90 for £14 from Costco you got a bargain Dunc!06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

yes, it does the job quicker(they are large batteries) and although they both can be put in supply mode with the xs25000 you could actually remove the battery whilst the key is in pos 2. handy if the batt is dead and you need to do diagnostics and even if the batt is not dead you will not loose any charge whilst having a look.

Did you leave the key in the ignition?
The D3 will pull a lot off current whit the key in the ignition, with ignition on it pulls 25 amps.Roel
