which jack?

So, having had to actually use the D4 jack, I need a decent one Laughing

It has to be able to fit in the car without too much space, so a bottle is preferred over a trolley. I gather it has to be small enough to fit under suspension arms for wheel changing and large enough in extension terms to lift the chassis for other work (though I do have a hi-lift jack too, so maybe this requirement is redundant?) - and I'd like it to be not too expensive. And if it can be used on other stuff, like my trailer, that would be an advantage too Very Happy

what do people use? I notice from the search that a number have kept D2 jacks, but that's not an option for me.....

I bought the SGS 5 tonne jack for in-car use. I measured the supplied scissor jack and it's maximum height was 500mm, although I can't imagine using it at that height. Anyway, the SGS jack also has a maximum height of 500mm but, more importantly, a very low minimum height of around 230mm - low enough to get under the chassis even with a flat tyre.

This shows the nearest tyre off the ground with the jack extended less than half of it's full travel:
