Whining "belt noise" under load

Hi

(i tried to search the best I could.. )

I got a very annoying high pitch belt scream at high revs (over 2000) and under load. Sounds very much like the aux belt, but I cannot replicate the sound at standstill at any revs.
The belt is just a few months old (max 4000 km)

Took of the belt and inspected both guiding wheels and tensioner - also regreased the bearing on the upper one (without tensioner).

The sound is "circular" - almost as if it is from the wheel somewhere.
Brakediscs, calipers, and bearing are all brand new and I am almost convinced that it is not coming from those.
Also brand new front prop shaft and newly rebuilt transfer box.
(The sound was there before everything was changed - it appeared first at highway speed in DK this summer 130km/h +)

Would appreciate any tips on this case. Kind of drives me mad - and poor.. Wink

It could be the cambelt starting to come apart, they have been known to have bits hanging off and catching inside the cover causing the noise, when was the belts last done.?.
Would also help if you filled in your cars profile.

I think I found what might be causing the whine. The wheel on the picture seems to have a broken bearing as it makes a strange sound when spinning it with fingers.

Can someone confirm if this is the coolant pump?

If anyone have a link to the part I´ll be very thankful.

Yes, Timmytid, if your engine is the TDV6 2.7 litre, then that arrow is pointing to the water pump pulley. (Maybe compete your profile if your engine is not a D3/D4 TDV6 2.7 litre?)

The link to a picture of the part is here https://allbrit.de/epc.cfm?PAGE=3030505A-T...HE=EN#8509 but it is the pulley only, not the shaft and bearings to the water pump. You will need this https://allbrit.de/epc.cfm?PAGE=3030310-T2...HE=EN#8501

Also sometimes a new(ish) belt can make a bit of noise and I have used a belt lubricant (Lanotech here in Australia) to quieten it down.

The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)

Thanks!

I`ve tried to update my car profile so many times but somehow it doesn`t appear right at my profile. I\ll have another look at it.

New waterpump is on order from LR Parts so I`ll update after changing it. Think there might be a 20% chance that it might be the cure for the bad sounds.. Wink
