Why did you need to change the intercooler?
White smoke would indicate water ingress into the chambers and the fact that you are also losing coolant seems to back this up.
At a first guess, I would suggest that the EGR valve coolers are cracked meaning that new EGR valves will be needed, but if you were able to diagnose and change your intercooler, then I guess this shouldn't be too hard for you to check yourself 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

hi
it was leaking oil via the n/s and got to the point where i had to change it.it did the smoke just before i changed the cooler and service and then it stopped but 4 weeks later its just started again, always thought head gasket but had the leak for over 2 years and no sighs of gasket so just kept topping it up,its done over 40k like that.
just the white smoke and yesterday it didnt do it,i valve has been replaced a few years back so you think the blanking kit may sort it?
thanks

Not sure why you should have an oil leak from the intercooler?
Blanking the EGR valves may stop the white smoke, but probably won't fix the leak as the coolers are around the body of the EGR valve and the blanking kit just seals off the outlet that goes to the admission chamber.
I suppose it's also possible that the white smoke is actually moisture being sucked back from the EGR valves (when closed) into the exhaust system and therefore isn't passing into the cylinders at all. If this is the case (as I said I've no idea if this could physically happen, but I guess it could), then blanking the EGRs won't have any affect.
You say the valve has been replaced a few years back, but there are two fitted to the TDV6 (one each side)... 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

thanks
guess the turbo seals are worn hence the intercooler leaking as oil gathers down there.
i know there are 2 valves but only 1 was replaced as was the egr cooler i guess to try and solve the mystery water leak.

White smoke plus coolant loss would indicate a leaking EGR valve cooler.
