Width of Roof Bars?

Hi,

I have some roof bars with regular clamps for securing to roof rails. I have tried these on my Disco3 but it looks like I need to get new fixtures.

Looking around I see LR Bars look a lot flatter and 'wider' than my bars. I'm concerned that the clamps used for securing to the box itself won't fit. My question is, for those of you with these 'aero' bars (and who would be kind enough to measure) is how wide are the bars? I mean the width - e.g. 6cm, rather than the length.

You are in luck

I did not want to fit the Frontrunner rails to my D3 just to install their roof rack. I used all the Frontrunner attachments and just made up 30mm x 30mm square nuts that go into the standard D3 rails (Frontrunner square nuts were 15mm x 15mm).

Edit - O, the square nuts are 6mm thick - see if you can buy them over there, here in Africa one needs to manufacture it yourself.

80mm wide

Thanks for the replies - I have dug out the 'alternative' clamps. They slide in, rather than clamp around the bars. All I need now are some bars for less than a ton.... Previous cars
