Wife’s approved used D4 restricted performance

So we bought the wife’s D4 just before Christmas and it’s been parked up till her old car went back.

So on her first trip today 120 miles and the engine management light came on and it’s stuck with restricted performance 🤣

It’s a 2013 SDV6 8 speed auto with 66k on the clock...

Any bets to what it will be?

Landrover assist are 6-7 hours away 🤣

Or maybe not - could be just a MAF sensor or loose pipe connection in the air intake pipework

Good luck anyway and report back on what the problem was as useful info for other folk (me included) Thumbs Up

If it’s ‘approved’, it should be a free fix!

You have 2 years warranty, call LR Assist and get them to send someone out..

Tip.. If you want a courtesy car, then do call LR Assist - They have to supply a vehicle..

If you just drive it in then they don't..

LR Assist actually sort out car hire, but with the dealer you have to hope that they have a car sitting waiting..

My D4 is in for a new compressor and Exhaust Valve (which is on Back Order Rolling Eyes ) on the used approved warranty.

So I have an Evouqe in it's place until my car is done, I think some dealers limit to 7 days also..

Good Luck!

So it turned out to be the first airflow sensor....

LR assist have run out of them on their van so have headed off to the local dealer to collect one.

Good service so far TBH

Scotland 2012 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Landmark LE Auto Zermatt SilverDiscovery 4

I recently bought a 2012 Discovery 4 Landmark
Runs really well but on 3 occasions. the red warning triangle appeared and went into reduced power mode. Each time was after hard acceleration on a fairly steep hill. Still managed to get up to 70mph. Each time switching off and waiting for a little while, anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. On restarting everything ok.
Any ideas?

Allansky63, you've made a good start by reading one thread, but there are so many with forum goers with cars behaving similarly to this.

Try searching cracked inlet manifold, MAF sensor, etc. Lots of hints and tips.

Mine was down to a cracked inlet manifold, with the N/S going first at 90k and the O/S at about 112k.

Oh, and welcome! Thumbs Up

Could be the TSOV (turbo shut off valve) that is located behind the small plastic cover behind the front of the drivers wheel. If you look inside there is a rod that seizes that operates this actuator for flow to the 2nd turbo which cuts in above 2500-2700.

Normally just needs freeing with WD then a grease to preserve. There was a modified design but think your age should have this already?

I've seen a few cars now where the vacuum pipes go soggy with oil, lose tension/grip of the pipe, and fall off

Also causes TSOV related issues
