If the rest of the car is good. Fix it.
That’s what I’ve done with mine. 54 plate hse, had 175,*** when it went in for a full overhaul.
Full belts and tensioners, oil and water pump, power steering pump, new brake servo and master cylinder, 2 wheel bearings, a driveshaft, 8 new cv boots, new arbs front and rear, new turbo, diff rebuilt and 4 new air struts and some brake flexes. Picked it up start of June and I’ll hit 180,000 tomorrow with it.
That lot will see me another 5 years or more out it.
It’s only money
Yeah that was my reasoning - its rare to find a disco that's been serviced every year and had most of the main jobs done already. Plus there's a warm feeling saving it from being stripped or 'we buy any car'd'.. I'd obviously been spoilt from owning bulletproof jap cars!

^^^^^^ Sounds like my car, right up to the time the engine decided it was finished. Mistake I made was I assumed she would last for ever, she didn’t.

Given the rest of the work done to mine.
If the engine did go. It would get a jag engine stuck in it.
But I’m hoping that with fresh injectors, Castrol oil only in it and BP fuel. It will last many years yet.

Possibly a long shot but check (replace) your linkage before deciding its the TC, see my issue here.
Id read "too much" about TC issues and missed a cheap simple fix.
Interesting, but mine isn't really 'over revvy" it, the revs just bounce up and down when you lift off the accelerator, and it judders going up hill.. will mention it to the garage tomorrow though so they can check it first- cheers

In answer to the title of this thread - yes it does!
So worth it. All juddering and revs bouncing up and down has stopped, gear changes are a lot smoother and better timed, and getting more MPG on the 'lie-ometer' to boot!
Thumbs up to Suffolk Transmissions as well!
