I’ll be interested to know how hard and durable the paint is when fully dried, having had another look and examination at mine which is definitely factory sprayed it can only be described as like dry chalk , I can leave an unremovable scratch on it simply by very very lightly running the back of my finger nail on it, absolutely unbelievable, as said previously it is Corris Grey and the scuttle plate has been sprayed with something with a dimpled finish to colour match, it’s so bad and poor the solution may be to buy a second hand one off a D3 that has not been painted and paint it the same as you It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hi
I’ve got one final coat to go, that will be 5 x coats ,as I thought of the hard treatment it will get
I did try and scratch it with my nail and didn’t make a mark
This is what it looks like at the moment , I’ve also thought if I should put a clear lacquer on it but don’t want it to have a high gloss finish
Don’t know if the Hycote web site specifies how tough the paint is, I’ll see if it mentions it

Haven’t noticed the indicator though
Know the ecus have a time-out of how many times u can press the button
Am going to see ref those earths by the pedal as per Petes suggestion

Scuttle looks really good It puts me in a quandary whether to do mine in black or grey like the original. Don’t forget what I said earlier about rain water standing on it for the first week, it won’t do any harm to get wet it’s when the water puddles like after a wax polish and is left to dry, it will either lift the paint or bleach the colour out leaving a ring, simply wipe the water off with a towel if it gets wet. How much paint(cans) have you used and what size? Will you use new clips to hold the “A” pillar trims on as recommended? It can when others can't,

Hi
Many thks , must admit doesn’t look too shabby , known it's taken me along time but not worried
Used 4 x cans ,
Ix adhesion
1x primer
3x finish black bumper finish coat
Size of cars were 400ml
I have ordered a Matt lacquer can as well , thought I might as well finish it off,
Suppose that’s around £45 but done the scuttle panel, A pillars, and even though I bought new wiper arms have sprayed them as well so it all matches
Yes got all new clips for the scuttle and A panel trim
Wonder if u could lay some black bags on ur scuttle panel and step back to give u some idea of what it would look like
Just got to sort out this window issue now, blimey how on earth do u get to the door connector
Is being picked up on the 3rd July for its mot so got to get them sorted out
Thks again for the kind compliment

Apologises but just had another thought
By me moving the engines fuse box and loom is there any possibly of pulling a wire out of the CJB
But then in the same thought the passenger door window works from its own scwitch
I’ll get my coat
Also didn’t realise there’s other fuses to the window system
But will start with those earths by the drivers pedal and undo the door loom

I don't think you will have pulled a wire out the CJB

Thks Pete , I didn’t think I had but thought as always to ask the daft question
Been reading through the CJB section bit, yeh i know
If I understand it correctly , power gets sent to the drivers switch from the CJB then from the drivers switch over the passengers plus RR and RL
The passenger window will work fine on its own switch
So that leads me to assume the internal loom is ok by power reaching the passenger window , therefore the drivers door loom must be the culprit
Once I get back on my feet I’ll take a good look and those earths u mention
Trying to find a pin connector picture , looks like I’ll have to disconnect all the connectors in front of the door loom before I can access it
Plus I only checked 2 x fuses , didn’t realise there’s also
7
17
30
31
60
Thks as always

yeah it would check the earth by the throttle pedal first as that should be easy ish.
It all seams to focus around the drivers door area

Cheers Pete
Getting good at using a multimeter after tracing that airbag light out , of course with a lot of help
Indeed will start there , got some test leads with crocodile clips on the end so after seeing if there ok can easily put an earth link straight across onto the earth of the drivers door loom and see if it makes any difference
I can see me taking that drivers door loom out though , which looks a right pain, easiest I imagine undoing all the connectors on front
At least if needed I can remove the door panel and test each wire for continuity
Thks as always

Hi
Final coat , just waiting for it to dry properly
Ordered some Matt lacquer , which should be here tues so can then put a coat on
New D4 heated jets should also turn up at the same time, connectors sitting there ready for connection
At least then it will be done and dusted all in one go
Will take a final pic when it’s all back on the disco

Decided to leave the panels semi Matt and not apply the lacquer
Reason being is I sprayed the small inside panel and looks awful , can see the small panel has like ghosting on it, hope that makes sense
So think I’ll leave well alone as the scuttle panel looks half decent I don’t want to mess it up at this late stage and get it back on the landy , along with the A pillars and new wiper arms, inc all new clips
