D4 3.0 TDV6 Oil Overfilled
I may have an issue with my D4 - If i leave the D4 for 12 hours or so and check the oil level via the menu I get the message saying overfilled, and the oil level bar is all the way to the top, but if I check say after 2 hours it only shows full and everything is OK.
It was serviced by a supplying garage (none LR) so I guess they may have over filled it....
Do I need to get some drained? Feel like I should, but before I try and get it sorted I wanted some advise...

Parked facing upwards on a hill? - can make the reading higher up the scale vs. parked on flat or facing downhill that makes the reading lower.

My advice would be to warm it up, ensure you are parked on a flat surface then check. If there is no warning the you are all set, if not drain a 500ml and check again. You are likely getting a different reading after 12 hours as the oil wont be at running temps.2007 D3 TDV6 XS - GONE

I am parked as flat as I can be getting these results...
Its fine when at running temps, and fine after a few hours say shopping. I get the error when I check after the car has been parked over night after 12 hours or so...

I'm pretty sure the D4 lacks a dipstick, but it does have an oil suction port on the top right side of the engine, which should make it easy for it to be part drained if needed.

It has the vacuum port, but I don’t have anything to hand to extract a little.

So if you drain some out until it shows "full" when cold what is it going to show when hot? - half full!
With the D3 the difference on the dip stick between being full and overfull is very small around 250mil.
How many miles have you done since it was serviced?- what springs to mind has the oil filter not been fitted correctly and oil is running back from the filter into the sump when stood?- easily done by a non LR garage It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I’m struggling for time in normal garage hours. Strange how it shows fine after a few hours.
Is the actual procedure with a warm or cold engine.

The D4 filter doesn't have a locator, so can't really be badly fitted , it sound like the level is at the upper limit, personally I'd get a suction pump and remove oil until it's just below the full line I run mine 1 division down from full Altox GSM FBH controller thread
