what to do with the raised air intake..

previously it's been discussed at length about LR verses Safari/raised air intake verses snorkel etc, so the limitations of each are pretty clear. My question to 'those in the know and that do' is, if you're going to add the LR one and use it from time to time to go somewhere that might be slightly over the handbook recommended 700mm water depth, what else do you get sealed up/ made a bit more water restant etc to make sure that there are no expensive trips to the nice man at the local LR garage?
 and theeeeennn......???

You can do this with a standard raised air intake.

Slimer commented that at the very least you would want to waterproof the battery box and any other ancilliaries more effectively in this thread http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic10576.html?highlight=snorkel
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I don't know about modifications under the bonnet, but I understand the driver's seat underwent a brief modification..... Whistle

Don't forget you can go slightly deeper than the 700mm, if you have the bow wave....
I did approx 800mm (2.5ft approx) yesterday (across a local ford) without a RAI, without any major problems.
I did wait for the Land Cruiser Amazon to go across first and wait for the water to settle, however saying that i did have a battery light come on for a few seconds when i hit the deep bit - which i put down to the battery being a bit wet Wink

I don't think the colour of the air was the issue, It was definately the smell that needed my magic cartons of (special order) Rose fragranced fresh air......

Bodsy I can see yet another side line in your fresh air venture. I want cut in this when it takes off.

You can place special air containers in the D3 that have voice activation release mechanisms. You could set different canisters with various fragrances to go off to precise voice commands.

For instance here are some actual comments that I know were said in a D3 just prior to certain incidents happening, Along with the required fragrance

Who the Fook dropped that = Raspberry Blush
Oh my god thats deep = Fishy Apricot (AndrewS)
Were going to hit the tree = Pine fresh (DG)
We've hit the tree = Salty Tears with a hint of Tictak (DG + Little5)
Fook theres a big drop = Irish Tea (christyler)
OMG I think I just filled up with Petrol = Crude oil blush (cant say)
Where has the ground gone = Desert dust(cant say)
