I had a puncture this evening and mindful of the reservations expressed about the standard jack, coupled with the fact it was raining and dark, I decided to call LRA.
Breakdown ( from Mondial) truck arrived after about 10 mins. Impressed so far.
The mechanic didn't know how to release the spare wheel, had to show him. He assured me he needed more the the locking wheel nut socket until I showed him how it works. I asked him to put the punctured wheel in the back rather than back in the spare wheel holder. He said he'd have to do that as it wouldn't fit in the spare wheel position anyway. ( I have a space saver spare). He seemed unsure about where to put the trolley jack. Hope he hasn't done any damage. I suggested putting the suspension in off road height prior to jacking, he said he didn't know about that. Handbook says this is what you should do. I suggested chocking a wheel. He chocked the front wheel the same side as the punctured rear tyre.
Just as well it wasn't something more difficult he had to deal with.
In air jacks that is - a quick round on the bay shows a Draper bag at £36.00 somehow I don't think that's what you guys are talking about. + how do you get a round the two exhausts. Surely if you put a jack one one the exhaust gasses will just take least resistance and go out of the other silencer ???? "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
Don't touch the Draper, it's not up to the job.
A blocking cone is used for the second exhaust
Search the site, you should find plenty on air jacks and maybe even a video of one in use The End

Exhaust Plug
40mm test plug plus rubber strip for seal.
You don't have to hold the plug in then:D

Just anwering BHPs question.
If fact this whole subject has been raised a few times.
Tips and tricks should include alternatives to the pathetic jack they supply.
Any suggestions catweasel?
I'll put it in tips and tricks. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
