brilliant thanks Thumbs Up

both those refer to 2010MY where as I would look to get a 2013> with the ZF 8 speed

do the 2013> suffer with the same problems ?

TIA

Rog

p.s. sorry for all the questions, ive done research on here via search and on other sites to get as much info as possible on the major quirks, but the specific faults like this slip through. The costs all add up if not careful

SE Tech is now sold, not surprising really

and now this one has popped up locally as well, possibly a bit overpriced

https://www.evanshalshaw.com/search/vehicl...n-yp61hpl/

ive looked at it without a pushy salesman present and overall condition is pretty good, couple of little scuffs here and there but nothing to cause concern, interior looks ok through the windows but its not been through PDI yet and it needs a new windscreen IMO but does have 4 decent Pirelli boots on.

MOT history is what rings alarm bells, most of the issues are minor mechanical and 'should' be sorted prior to sale but it appears that the rear seats have been missing for every MOT pretty much.

Any particular reasons spring to mind why someone would remove rear seats ? dodging commercial use reasons maybe? does it suggest its had a hard life ?

TIA

Rog

It sounds like the previous owner was moving largish stuff quite regularly. Perhaps a jumble seller or car booted. If the interior isn’t abused I wouldn’t be concerned.

there was at least one nick in the roof lining I saw but the rest looks pretty standard for an 8 year old car, think I really need to go back to have a proper look with the keys in hand.

im going away camping on Friday for a week in the FL2, complete with roof box and small trailer and still some gear on the inside so ill if that D4 is still there when I get back then ill go have a look.

Ok. So having been away for 10 days ive carried on searching and drooling.
A 2012 12 plate has come up
SDV6 XS
Baltic blue, black leather
106k with full history and 1 owner.
Dealer will put 12 months MOT, 6 months warranty, service, and is happy to change the cambelt but not the fuel pump belt????
Screen price is 14k dead at Shepshed Ford dealership.
MOT history is ok for age. Picked up front bush play on last test but i think these have nkw been done.

Any thoughts welcome please.

TIA once again all you D4 experts.

P.s. im seriously seriously tempted with this one 😂

Thumbs Up Nice looking car, but why won't they do the rear belt - its a main service item at that age? Confused

I guess its a cost thing for them and they probably dont have the specific tool to do it.
He said over the phone the HPFP belt wasnt catastrophic if it went which after reading up on here appears correct.
Going to have a good think over the weekend about it and the finances side.

Anything in particular I need to look out for?
They will change the belts if they havent been already and service it if needed

TIA

after having paid a small holding deposit on a 61 HSE at Mike Neal Select i went to have a look Tuesday. Lots of 10 plate up to 62 D4 and RRS plus a couple of FL2.
The HSE was nice however i wasnt allowed to start it up or even have the key to turn the ignition on, even though i was accompanied throughout. So walked away as prior to viewing i had also checked online reviews about the dealership... not good.

Then on the way home went to look at a 61 XS at Evans Halshaw (i mentioned it earlier on here) to be told that although its still showing as on site and available its being sent to auction as too much needs doing to it. Banging Head

Hopefully saturday ill be going to look at another XS in Peterborough but im going to have to factor in belts fairly soon if i get it as its on 97k but its 1 owner with FSH.

Lets see how this one goes Whistle

If you really like this one, then as part of your negotiation process I'd ask them to get the belts done and you'd secure the deal.

Good luck with it. Thumbs Up

They have said they will do the belts but at additional costs, so ill ask them how much they will charge to do it. If its significantly less than the £800 or so that ive seen it costs at Indys i may get them to do them otherwise ill use my local LR specialist (who wont touch Freelander as they arent proper LR in his eyes Laughing )
ill also use him to do diff oils, gearbox oil and flush and general servicing in phases over the coming months.

this is the XS

Looks like a nice clean example. Thumbs Up

But I see they're factoring in that it has 1.8k worth of factory extras. Confused
Within that they're claiming 'extended roof rails' at £230
It doesn't have these fitted, so I'd haggle to get them fitted, or a £230 discount (which will help go towards the belt change).

Im not shy when it comes to haggling Ron Laughing

I cant see them reducing the price at all as its a car supermarket and they will just claim that the extras are a generic list so may not be correct, but ill try and squeeze some more out of the part ex price for the FL2 to offset things.
