Wow, that 3yrs went quick....
We're nearly at the end of our PCP deal with our D3. Can't believe it's gone so quick
So we're thinking of what to do next. The D3 has been "Awesome" over that time, a few niggly bits (EGR, Aircon pipes, water in footwells) but overall very, very good. Done appx 31K miles in the 3yr period - twice to South of France, and Lands Ends/Cornwall to.
She's never once left us stranded (even with EGR failure) - so shall we keep or trade it? No longer under warranty, but only 47k miles on clock (with FSH)
We've seen some pics of an 09' plate HSE in Rimini Red (loverly) that we are seeing in the flesh on Wednesday at local dealers.
dealers offered us a reasonable price against the £35k 09' D3 (we think)
Can't afford a D4 unfortunately - prices of Discos have done really well considering that 1yr after us having it we were wondering if it would be anywere near its GFV come end of deal (7k over GFV she's come in at).
But that means everything else is also dearer - hence no D4 for us this time round
Will see what happens come Wednesday

If you have onlY done 31k i would keep it. Mines coming up to 5years and 130k miles and bar a few maintenance jobs it is still as good as when it was newDuncan

Keep it!
Buy a warranty, and hang on for something new in a couple of years. IMO the D4 is very nice, but the cost to change is very high.
Maybe the new Defender when it comes about will start to tempt the D3 owners hankering after something a little more utility than D4?

Ditto the above.
Apart from a newer car what do you really get? Save your money, have a remap and buy a warranty. You have many years of happy ownership in front of you.

thanks for the replys all
We did say at the beginning that we would swap at the end of the term for something newer - but it is going to be a difficult decision as she's been so good - lol
Cost wise - we still have to pay the Balloon payment if we keep her, so it works out pretty similar for the 3yr term.
We'll wait till after Wednesday

I'm 5 years into D3 ownership (on 2nd one) and I couldn't imagine driving anything else now other than a D4/FF but as they are out of my reach at the moment I shall be ploughing on with this one (currently at 40K) beyond PCP decision point - less than one year to go and car is worth approx 2.5 times PCP final payment so shouldn't be a difficult decision for me (assuming prices don't drop massively through floor in next 12 months)Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Well, we've been to see the other one - neither of us liked it really (loved the Rimini Red color) just thought it was too blingy, didn't like the light colored interior, or the LED lighting and, in the end, not different enough to just justify the extra expense.
So you'll all be pleased to know that we are keeping our current one - yeh and giving her some much needed TLC over the next couple of months
GS @ Wakefield did have a rather nice LTD Edtion D4 in, that had a nice presence - leather interior, 20" alloys with silver/black finish - looked very nice.
May look at giving ours a similar finish (color coded door/boot handles/mirror caps, some nice black finish alloys etc) and maybe a Remap aswell.
cheers all
