Today I rescued a friend from a vehicle rally at Powderham near Exeter, I have fitted some 20" Stormer alloys to my Disco so thought it would be hopeless in slippery conditions. I was proved wrong I towed my friends caravan out of a waterlogged field then went back for his car and a small steam traction engine on a trailer weighing nearly 2 tons. The Disco made a lot of noise but the sand grass setting did its job, onlookers were watching thinking I was going to get stuck but to their amazement and many comments afterwards it did it without fuss.
Any thoughts of me selling my Disco3 which I have owned for 4 years have been wiped out today. I think a load of the people watching today will be looking to put a Discovery on their shopping list. I have been in a similar situation years ago with a Defender 90 towing a Transit van out of a similar rice paddy field and the old 90 had dumper truck style tyres; that was a lot more emotional with 4 people jumping up and down in the back with all wheels spinning and the tow rope breaking twice.
Well now I going to get dressed and go out in my amazing vehicle as we have a dinner engagement, what an amazing vehicle I have. Awesome!  "Hold Fast"

They just do everything. Wedding car to farm tow vehicle, removal van to holiday cruiser. Discovery just does. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

love my D3 but it did try its best to kill me on a damp steep field one day , when it lost traction pulling my ifor williams trailer with my winch challenge 90 on , over run brakes have no affect backward hurtling down a field with no control , braked just regained enougth traction as the trailer started to jack knife , scary day 
have a bit more respect for wet grass these days just as slippy as ice

Should have left the Hill Descent Control on!
(P.S. I have no idea what I'm talking about, I don't even know what a Winch Challenge 90 is, but I recently found out the hard way that HDC is a great thing to have on even when going *up* hill because if you do screw up it can control your speed going backwards downhill...)
