TBH hammerite or smoothrite would probably be best if you wanted to colour them with a more chip resistant finishThe End

The whole world is being coated in plastidip at the minute - that could be worth a try too! Rubbery finish may be chip resistant 2014 D4 XS

Well they're all done and on, not looking too shabby......
I'll see how long they last, if not the Hammerite will be out!

Hey Skep, just wondering how did the wrapping hold up ? May give it a go if it has been successfulDiscovery 4 HSE LUX Causeway
Never argue with an idiot, they'll drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
Yeti, they are holding up well, they've been done about a year now and still look as good as when I did them. I was worried about stones/peeling etc but no problems

Drill out the rivets then you may need to drill new holes through the step and into the ally strip then either re rivet or stick some self tappers in so you can remove easily if required.

All fitted Saturday morning, screws you recommended we're spot on hardest bit was drilling out body of old rivets once strips were removed. After doing first one second took half the time.

Dragging up an old post but I'm about to give mine the same treatment. When you wrapped around the curves how did you deal with excess on the top and bottom of the strip.
When your doing the curves try and stretch the wrap with the heat gun and pull it round, it will make the tops and bottoms shorter if you know what I mean. Heating and stretching hides excess, it's all a bit trial and error, the wrap is very forgiving in that you can put it on and take it off and reapply again as long as you don't tear it, just heat it back up to regain the original form.
I did the first one with a lot of redoing and ended up removing and staring again once I had got the knack of it.
Hope that helps
