Practice makes perfect as skep says, it's been very durable apart from 2 weeks in when I had an " I'll easy get through there moment"..............I didn't !
- But small amount of filler and re wrap and you'd never know

Thanks gents, I thought there would be a way of doing it. I'll be sure to post some pics if I pull it off.

One thing I'm not understanding, if you screwed the sides back on, I'm assuming you wrapped the edges first then screwed them back on, I don't see the screws in the photos? Joined the BMWX5 45e group

The originals are pop-rivet'd on from the back, easiest way is to undo the 10mm (I think from memory) nuts on the underside, lift off the whole step, you need to drill out each rivet but before you do I'd suggest pilot drilling some new holes for some self typing screws so you get it all lined up right then drill the rivets out, wrap them and screw them back on. I experimented with sizes of screws but couldn't find big enough for the rivet holes so drilled more holes. I suppose you could use more rivets but with screws it's easier to remove if you need to again

Skep, excuse me for being thick (I don't have steps at present so can't look). From what side do you screw them, from the finished edge in or the back out (can't see that). If it is from outside in, how are the screw heads covered????? Joined the BMWX5 45e group

The screws come from the back so through the step frame then the aluminium strip so you do not see the screws atall unless you lay underneath the disco with a torch. Hope that's a bit clearer '16 Volvo XC90 R Design Bursting Blue (Vera)
