Xenon problem
I was folowing my daughter last night who told me my offside xenon light wasn't as bright as the nearside one. I've looked and I can't really see a problem but my son also confirmed the same.... On a side issue I've had to replace the offside stop/tail light could that be connected or isd it an indication the xenon light is on its way out?

"not as bright" or "pointing in a different direction"? Are both your lights pointing in the right direction for UK lights?
The pukka bulbs tend to go bluer when they are wearing out. Forum sponsor has some OEM Philips bulbs on special offer. You won't find them cheaper anywhere else.
Always change in pairs and keep your old, but perfectly functional bulbs as spareClub missing my D3

The beam patterns are different between the left-hand and righ-hand side lamps...(the same is true for LHD cars, but the opposite way around)
The one closest to the kerb (near-side) has a slightly higher cut-off point towards the outer part so as to illuminate the side of the road in front of you.
This means that if you look at both lamps from a certain distance/height in front of the car....this is usually more noticeable when driving in front of another D3 and looking in your rear-view mirror, the off-side lamp appears less bright.
If you were able to look from 0.5m lower down (i.e. closer to the floor), then you should see that they are the same brightness...
Not sure if I've explained myself very well 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Sorry...forgot to say that when you switch to main beam, the shutter lifts and you get the full beam from the bulb/reflector.
The effect of the nearside being brighter is only apparent when in dipped beam as the shutter is down and therefore marking the cut-off line to prevent dazzling on-coming drivers.2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

If you have Xenons, have you checked that one of the levers to adjust the lights for driving on the left hasn't somehow moved?
