Xenon Upgrade complete...but DRL's not very bright?
Hi all,
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere - I searched, but found nothing.
Completed the xenon upgrade some months back, and have been super happy with the results, however I have noticed that my DRL's are considerably less bright than those that have been factory fitted. Almost as if they're not getting enough power or something?
Is there a reason behind this, and is there a way to 'fix/improve' it at all?
Does anyone else have this issue with the xenon upgrade?
They don't have DRLs, unless you went for the 14MY onwards ones.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Well, I have to turn mine to the 'sidelight' position on my light selector to the right of the steering wheel...so I'm guessing it's sidelights, not DRL's...
To clarify, I've completed a full 2014+ overhaul of the front end, so I've purchased a set of 2014 onwards xenons with the DRL's.
Is that where my issue lies?
Cheers.

Yes the 2014 lights are a step up in style (IMO) at a cost of a step down in light output - 1 main light now instead of 2 on your old lights

What do you mean by "1 main light now instead of 2 on your old lights"?

on MY2010-2013 you have Bi-xenon (low & high beam) PLUS H7 high beam lights (half Right pic), on MY2014-ON you have ONLY the Bi-Xenon lights (half Left pic)...Discovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

Ah right ok.
I swapped out just bog standard halogens from my 2010 Disco.
Could that be why my “DRLs” are not as bright as they should be? Because it’s not actually running off a DRL wire, but instead just a side light wire (if that makes sense)?
I.e if my Disco had come with pre-2014 xenons, I’d have a dedicated wife for the DRL function, thus making them brighter when swapped with post-2014 options?
So, is there any way of making mine brighter...?

Re-read this through again and understand your question
If your DRL's do not come on on with the ignition then you haven't enabled DRL in the CCF file - that needs to be done
The DRL's do dim when sidelights are switched on.
How did you get the flash to work when lights are off btw?

Oh...that's confusing.
I went to my local LR indy in Cornwall at the time and we plugged the IID tool in and definitely had to check a box (or similar) to enable the "DRL's" to work, but they only ever came on when I switched the side lights on, never just with the ignition...
Come to think of it, I'm not actually entirely sure we ticked any boxes to do with DRL's...maybe only chose the 'Xenons fitted" option...Maybe. It was quite some time a go.
I don't have an IID so can't check either
I had just a base spec GS so no auto lights or anything - Would that matter at all?
EDIT: What did you mean by the flash btw?

Auto lights should have no impact on your DRL's coming on or not. You just need them programming in correctly IMO
(I'm coming from doing this on a GS with auto light retrofit afterwards)

Hmmm - to be honest, I'm not sure I've ever tried!!
I would pop out and try but my Mrs has taken the car today - Will try later and update.
Did you managed to get the flash working on your lights then? I feel thats something I should have that works!!

Not got round to fitting my relays yet so no flash when lights off. Its more from not having the nerve to do it myself and not knowing anyone local that will take it on.
