Yet more comedy from the Big Brother state

Goverment plans to track our movements beyond UK borders.

As if it weren't bad enough that your movements are routinely tracked in the UK, they now expect you to provide full itineraries and payment card details for all trips abroad (including within the EU). The press don't seem to have put two and two together on the payment card details - as I see it, this will allow them to monitor "deviation" from your logged itinerary.

Democracy at work folks..... Everyone remembers voting for this policy at the last election, yes?
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

A new avatar for us all to adopt?

What really scares the sh... bejesus out of me is the total apathy of the sheep in the UK. I mentioned this in the office and just got blank stares, shrugs and a trite "well if you haven't got anything to hide...."

Are they putting something in the water? Shocked

Of course once they have all that information, they have everything they need to calculate how often you have travelled against a defined allowance of miles/holidays, what the enviromental impact is and how much they will tax you for the privilege! Oh, and they also have your credit card details to directly bill you as well. Evil or Very Mad

And don't forget that MP's will most likely be exempt from all of this Rolling Eyes

Funnily enough, I was shortlisted for a senior post with AIG in the UK last year. At that point I did my own "due diligence" on them and declined to take the application any further..... Whistle

They claim it is to stop terrorism and protect borders, but if you see how they process illegal immigrants I don't see how it will help. If the police find a illegal immigrant on the street they give them a bit of paper and tell them to report to a immigration centre, no checks are done in most cases. I don't think terrorists are going to subscribe to the new database somehow.

Still, give it a couple of years and our kids will be micro chipped at birth like our pets and then they can be scanned whenever they go anywhere. Just had to pay over £40 for a passport for our son, freedom is not cheap.

Given that the realistic threat is from Islamic terrorism why not simply record the movements of all Muslims - <snip> It's only political correctness that dictates that the rest of us must suffer the same inconvenience. I would add that I'm not anti muslim in any way but I haven't heard of any christian or even atheist fundamentalist threat to the UK.
And no - I didn't vote for it at the last election either!
I'd be unstoppable - if I could just get started

Erm...IRA...BNP (they have been stopped before terrorist attacks could be launched using grenades, bombs etc)...plus everything you will never know about because counter-terrorism stops it before it happens...and security means details won't always be released.

And why aren't Muslims hard to spot...? I think you have just stereo-typed a large portion of the UK. And that is a racalist stance.

So you may want to rethink your statement.

(Note - I'm not supporting the UK Government's move. Quite the contrary).
