That may be the case now but I would bet 5 years ago everyones advice was to remove the body.
People always find a way.

Its just to easy to do with the body off everything its just there to undo nothing holding you back.
I wouldnt do it any other way than that...also there;s the point you can check it all over once again when together to see if u forgot that" are cuppa tea darling " n missed them two bolts that hold the cross over from vibrating to death ect ect

all credit to you..not easy...the advantage of body off would have allowed you to go over the remaining items that are difficult....out of interest how many miles on the jag engine

Thanks guys, I just wish the weather was a tad warmer
The Jag engine I'm using had covered 98k miles, however it was rebuilt by Jaguar 2 years ago and has only covered 10k since, at a cost of £4k.
Ill be changing the Oil Pump, water pump and belts, just to be sure.
Hopefully it will all be back together in 2 weeks!

I'm attempting this same job myself..... Almost there - did you manage to get the new engine in and running?

Guys, apologies for asking you to repeat what you already said but my technical knowledge is quite limited and I want to confirm that I understood correctly.
My Disco 3 2.7 TDV6 engine just broke down (crankshaft or bearing suspected) and replacing the engine may be the cheapest option, in the long run. Did I understand correctly that the 2.7 engine from Type S Jaguar is a viable replacement but I need to move the elements which Pete K mentioned, from the old engine to the new one (all belt driven ancillaries, turbo, injectors, sump and dipstick and tube, wiring)?

That is correct.
You can also get a replacement engine from LandRover for around £4000 with 2 year warranty.
But the same items would need moving over. (well except sump & dipstick)
