Indeed very interesting
Doesn’t surprise me of the stupid comments he’s getting , ref he needs to change the compressor whilst the body is off , usual myths

It's the same on the Facebook groups. Half of the replies to posts on there are absolute nonsense.Kev

Another reason I stay away from that kind of platform
Think the guy is doing a great job by taking the time to share his rebuild and indeed always get the so called experts chiming in
Shame when u hear young people have taken comments to heart from social media

Great job
But, I would like an update, if there are any oil/water leaks etc.
I thought the crank oil seal had to be precisely set, 1 mm in from edge?
He just rammed it home?

A little bit off topic but an engine rebuild question. Say that you need to overhaul the block, tolerance of the cylinder is off. My understanding is that is that you can not bore this block, you need to insert sleeves and from there decide keep it standard +10thou or +20 thou. Block is aluminium with a coating on the cylinders that can not be rebored.
Has anyone done that or you just going for a new block?

yeah I was wishing him luck with the crank seal.
numerous reports of large oil leaks on here after a garage has change that seal and it's come out.
Here it is recommend only LR seal is used, a tool used to fit it. And as you say 1mm comes into it somewhere!
He reads this thread, so hopefully he will monitor the engine

so he gave the car to his brother, who then drove it into a lake (upto the headlights), knackered the engine, so it's now having a Jag engine fitted.

If it were my brother and he did that, I'd tell him where to go!Kev

Cant actually believe how much and why Jag would re-engineer the basic engine with so many different parts just for "fun" before installing it into the S type !!!!
I really hope it runs when they eventually get it installed and the body back down....
