3 Years Restoration Job...
On Christmas Eve I was delighted to announce that the D3 was being bought over from the company car scheme and, finally, into our ownership.
Well this week the documents come through and it's ours
As a result, now that she's over three years old, I thought I would set about restoring her to her former beauty from day 1 when she rolled onto the driveway for the very first time.
So after lunch today I set about with phase 1 - a proper and thorough cleaning using the Autoglym 'stuff' I got from JKP when we met a few months ago. I also used AG interior shampoo to clean all the doors, dashboard and centre consol etc. which had all the rain marks and general scuffs from day-to-day life.
After that I will... (was supposed to be doing tomorrow morning but it looks set to p*ss it down now ):
- Autoglym SRP and EGP to bring the paint back to life
- Tar remover on the bottom of the doors and on the alloys
- Vacuum all the neuks and crannies of the interior
- Autoglym leather cleaner and then conditioner to make it soft and subtle again.
- Fit the orange 'tax disk' DISCO3 sticker!
- Replace the standard DISCO3 sticker at the rear to the white reflective one.
If I don't get it done tomorrow, which I wont, I don't know when it will be next... perhaps Sunday at the earliest
So, how she looks now after phase 1...
Still got a wee while 'till it's 'as new' but it's certainly better than it was this time last month...

Your right no rain here, but it was a cold 6 degree's today . That's virtually Siberian for us. Bit worried the palm tree's will suffer if it carries on being this cold .

That's the plan anyway..!
CW, that's nothing - last time I tried to polish the car I had to give up 'cos the liquid kept freezing on it 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Give it 'till the end of the year and you won't be able to get rid of me... full driving licence + access to a car (albeit not a very off-roady one - not that that stops us trying ) = much greater event attendance
Just watched a programme on people who can't learn to drive... a bit worrying. I'm due to book an abandoned airfield south of here in a few weeks time to get a bit of early practise in.. 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Phase 2 was completed morning and part of the afternoon, and that's pretty much how I'm going to leave it until a proper wax etc. in the early summer when it's not raining and freezing...
This was:
- Interior vacuuming and clearing out of clutter
- Interior shampoo on all doors, dashboards, centre consol etc...
- Leather renovation
- Glass polished
- Wheels done a bit more
- Stickers removed/applied
That's as much as I can do for now to make it "as-new" again. Far from perfect but getting close perhaps
This is how she looks now:
As much as it should look as-new, the problem with being so clean is that it shows up its war wounds clearer...
Then I removed the internal silver DISCO3 sticker and replaced it with a much clearer and more noticable white external one. Looks great!
Then came the front 'tax disk' sticker...
From behind:
Up front I basically cleaned it all up, where it had become rather dusty, grimey and generally dirty:
The back was vacuumed and cleaned up:
And the rearmost seats and area too...
I spent a lot of time on the doors believe it or not, which had built up all that streakiness from the rain all down which looked terrible. Also it had scuffs and mud everywhere:
This was most noticable though, the leather was so yuck it was turning brown. Full of sand, dog hair and rubbish, I cleaned it and conditioned it using the Autoglym leather care cream (thanks again John ):
The wheels still have evidence of tar and worn-in grit, but as I said when it's warmer...

CY, your efforts in cleaning up those interior door panels is particularly impressive The solid plastic moldings at the bottom of each rear door panel are filthy on mine, & nothing I've tried seems to shift the ingrained muck. What's your magic formula for removing kids' muddy boot scuff marks? Is there some Autoglym product I should be using?DGRR
