Advice on Plan- HDC Fault-Special Progs-Suspension Lowering
Advice on strategy welcome…
Read loads on here – thank you! My first occurrence was at the end of last summer on the motorway (forgot about it tbh). Nothing then until this weekend, again on the motorway - just cruising no excessive throttle or hill climb and no braking. Twice on Friday and again on Saturday (second times after stopping and restarting). Can’t ignore anymore. Relevant fault codes read include the following (but I’d like to clear these first):
C1b00-61 steering angle sensor
P0500-00 vehicle speed sensor A
My rough strategy based on what I've read and what needs doing anyway below is as follows:

Messages go; hdc, special programs off, suspension lowered.
Lights on dash as shown. Happens after about half hour leisurely stroll down the motorway.
picture is when parked up at service station.

Clears for another half hour or so then occurs again.
First time occurred after work on rear suspension last year, but then nothing for 8 months. Then 4 times in last 2 days. These have all been the only prolonged motorway journeys I can remember now I come to think about it.

In my opinion, you have an upcoming suspension issue. This is showing itself now during a drive because the car thinks it's going around a corner but is actually going straight ahead. Again, IMO, you have a number of worn suspension components which when added together result in your current issue.
The good news is, in the short term, you can recalibrate the steering angle sensor so the car knows where straight ahead is ( it's lost it's geometry because of the worn parts ) and the problem will be gone until those suspension components wear further and by then, you'll have to replace something.
Been there, done that.................... Mods:

That makes sense. Will get wheel alignment checked and re calibrate steering sensor.
How accurate do you have to be getting wheels straight forward when re-calibrating, is there a technique?

You will be wasting your money on a wheel alignment, you only need to recalibrate the steering angle sensor for now.
On flat ground, point the front wheels straight ahead, ensure the steering wheel is level and recalibrate.
If your wheels are straight ahead and your steering wheel is on the cock, this should be an indication of how far out of plonk your steering sensor really is. Mods:

Gotcha, though have to say steering wheel appears pretty level (horizontal) when going in a straight line (on motorway). Will give it a go. Thanks for help, Narpy and beanie.

Not the OP but I've just solved mine - turns out it was the steering sensor needing recalibrating. I bought the Autec Maxi AP200 for £50ish off Amazon and used it via the app to realign. Really easy to do. It probably didn't help I also found a rear tyre was well below pressure too.
Thanks for the reply Mat, I was just reading about the steering sensor calibration, which kind of makes sence as the front lower arms were well worn and I had them replaced a few months ago followed by a alignment.
I'll go grab the IID tool in a mo and give it a try.*D3 V8 SE Blue 2004 on LPG with Rock sliders, roof rack/Ladder, snorkel, 275/65x18 STT Muds, engine/G/box ally protection.
