I have been reading your thread. I can see it’s going to involve a lot of patience, triple jointed finger tips etc!!

It’s never too late to order these I’d like to see someone else get them and share their thoughts too, they arrived two days after ordering them and if you speak to the seller nicely he gave a bit of discount (well it worked for me lol)

Did you manage to get hold of oem ones?

Yes, the originals lasted over 250k miles so i suspect before i need to do these again i may well be driving a Jeep Wrangler.

Mine lasted 46k miles Shocked

Think it is more of an age / heat cycle thing which makes the plastic go brittle

I am having trouble getting a tool on the rear bolt of the RH fuel rail. There is not enough space for a socket due to a coolant pipe that i have no idea how to remove.

My 12 pt spanner slipped and i can not get purchase with an angled hinged 12 pt spanner so have ordered up a 6 point spanner before i strip the head !

Can you know how you get on with this bolt when you manage it. Cheers.

The torque spec for the fuel rail pipes is 25nm, your's sound a bit tigher then that!

I have a set of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/US-PRO-Crowfoot-C...amp;sr=8-5

which I am hoping will work, will let you know

Cheers

They look ideal. I have one similar on the way along with a six point ratchet spanner so will see what fits.

I do like buying tools so no downside there.

Looking forward to your update. Yes, the front bolt took a fair heave before it cracked free and undid so i presume eight years of heating and cooling and use just set it in there, threads were clean.

By coincidence, reading this whilst browsing tools in B&Ms and saw these cranked ratchet spanners ...

Would they help?

I’m not sure if they would help unless they have a slot to feed the fuel line through as this is in the center of the nut.

Been a busy evening. Got the LH side installed and very pleased with how it looks. Perfect fit and all bolts located by hand easily. Managed to keep the EGR in place and just undone the top bolt to remove the fuel rail mounting bracket. The RHS for some reason looks tighter for space so will see how I get on tomorrow evening!!

(Excuse the spaghetti wires and pipes. Tried to keep as much of it attached and moved to the side)

Forgot to say and this probably doesn’t help but I undone all fuel rail pipes with a bog standard 17mm (I think) open end spanner Shocked

They were tight but one good pull and they all cracked loose without too much fight.

Ordered Sunday, delivery today (Tuesday). Excellent packaging, excellent communications and the casting quality is very good with average thicknesses of 2.1mm and 2.3mm - plenty to contain and resist the turbo boost.

I’ll fit them when the body is lifted in January along with a whole host of other preventative maintenance items.
