Alloy Wheels not taking a shine....
Hi,
First wash of my Disco and used Wonder Wheels on the alloys....what a mistake! Its a good product generally but its obviously too corrosive for the Disco alloys....luckily I stopped after doing the first.
Anyway....wanted to ask if anyone has advice on how I can get the 'shine' back...its taken the lacquer type coating off the wheel and it looks all streaky and dull ?
Any advice would be welcome....

I have used Wonder Wheels cleaner on my alloys without any issue - at least I don't think I have an issue with it removing the lacquer
Anyway on a previous car I used ChipsAway to sort out my alloys which were in need of some serious TLC. Would be worth giving them a call for a free quote.
Did you let the wonder wheels dry on? if so try reapplying and clean off with water with car wash in, straight away. If this worries you get some Auto Glym wheel cleaner.
The wheels are normally clear powder coated, the acid wheels cleaners can dull the finish but only long term
A fine surface renovator and a bit of elbow grease should bring up any dull marks left.

I've used Wonder Wheels for some time now - no apparent issues. Still look shiny and fully lacquered to me? I never let it get dried on though, if you do, it does leave dark marks that need quite a bit of elbow grease to remove.2005 D3 HSE 2011 D4 Landmark 2016 D4 HSE Lux

How long did you leave it on? Did it dry in? Probably one of those two questions will give the answer as to why it went dull.
Only one word as to how to fix them...refurb.
Wonder wheels is a good product but strong and cannot be left on for too long.

Agree with above, if you let it dry it will streak and look dull. The only time it has removed lacquer for me was when I offered to do the neighbours wheels and somebody had done a quick touch up job with a spray can and it removed the paint .
Fortunately she didn't blame me

Also not to be used or if so very carefully if you have damaged wheels such as kerbing or scratches from offroading, as it can get under the paint and if not rinsed properly will turn a nice milky colour in patches. Nice mottled effect

Wonder wheels is brick cleaner, ie, highly acid. It will shag your wheels eventually.
Get them clean (was using "muck off") and polish them with a good quality wax. Finish with some wheel sealant or Zaino CS and you will be able to wash the brake dust off with soap and water after that. You have to do them regularly though, probabably once every couple of weeks.
