Another From Base to Ace

Hi all, after reading the many threads on here on the upgrades and modifications on forum members vehicles I twould like to share my disco's transformation from a base 7 seater. I've had the vehicle nearly a month now and have been collecting parts left right and centre. The list of parts has been huge and I could of gone out and got a higher spec motor (but wheres the fun in that Laughing ) after looking around I though it best to get a lowish mile vehicle with a decent history knowing important things like belts had been done. It has already had a new compressor fitted and came with full length roof rails and tinted windows which is a bonus.

So the list of parts to be fitted :

front & rear bumpers with Fogs, parking sensors and washer jets.
Early D4 rear lights
Xenon headlamps
Leather interior with heated memory seats and heated rear.
Auto lights and washers.
Rear view camera.
After market head unit with sat nav and tv
Leather Steering wheel with all the function buttons phone CC etc.
Tow bar and electrics.
19in HSE Alloys.

So to fit all this I've got a HSE wiring loom and the associated modules and switches correct HEVAC unit rear view mirror.

So today I have fitted the lights wired in the resistors for the rear and just about to go and pick up my wheels from the powder coaters. More pictures of those later

So after finding out the wiring loom I had been sent was for an automatic it set back my plans for the refit I had an area booked to do the work in and a mate on standby to sort the CCF settings. I decided not to waste the place I had booked and decided to do what I could with the knowledge that I'd have to do it all again Rolling Eyes

I spent a couple of days swapping out the interior, centre consul & door cards which has made a massive difference to the disco.I made a temporary loom to get the drivers seat working until I can get some more time to wire it up properly.
Also did the steering wheel and got the cruise control activated.

So that was the week before last.
This week I de-tangoed the headlights and spent some time compounding the paint work getting rid on most of the light scratches on the car and did my bit to promote the forum. Also fitted some wind deflectors and smoked side repeaters.

Looking much better with the stock HSE wheels. I just swapped from the 09 ones to those. On your headlights you have black patches at the bottom. Was this part for the de-tango or a sticker?

Can I ask, have you informed your insurance company of all the modification?

Hi Thanks, no stickers were involved in the modification of the lights when I had them apart I masked them off and painted them.

Sea Raider I have been in contact with the insurance company and all is good as all parts are Land Rover approved. Thanks for the comment too.

Wiring

Spent most of last week wiring in the loom for the heated seats and the parking sensors and fitting a stick on dash kit not everyones cuppa tea but I like it Embarassed Also fitted the holder for the removable tow ball and stripped out the mess of wiring for the towing electrics as I'm replacing it with a OEM loom. Also have painted the rear plastics on the tail gate bottom trim and number plate light housing. will get some pictures of that when the rear bumper goes on. So now just waiting for the front bumper and sensor bezels to pick up from the painters and hopefully be fitting them this week.

United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 Base 7 Seat Auto Java BlackDiscovery 3

Hi

Thks, hardest bit was ensuring the new switches were suitably colour matched

Already fitted the D4 wiper/ light stalks so think this will finish it off nicely

I’d really like to remove the green LR badge off the new airbag and fit a black one, but worried I may ruin it, don’t know how hard they are to remove Thumbs Up

Has ur beloved driven it before , maybe SWMBO wants to borrow it for Xmas shopping Rolling with laughter
