Another tailgate story
Hi everyone. I have a 05 Discovery 3, yesterday the boot refused to open, I can't hear anything when I try the handle but it does pop open when u press the door lock and release together on the dashboard. Can anyone tell me if you his is the microswitch or actuator please?
Also because I normally travel on my own it's difficult to press the he buttons inside the car and pull the tailgate at the same time, so is it possible to programme the keys 3rd button to do this as I pull on the tailgate. If it is possible how do I do it?
Many thanks

•To set the remote to release the tailgate, press and hold the Land Rover button on the fob and then release the tailgate (either by opening in outside or by pressing the Lock and Unlock buttons on the dashboard together).

Sounds like the microswitch on the tailgate handle, you can ease the rubber cover off and try cleaning the inside, its usually oxidised up and may not be working the switch, worth a try, if it turns out to be the handle switch then consider this if replacing

Thanks

Just changed my Land Rover button to open the tailgate. Most useless thing ever. Car still needs to be unlocked and as has been said button on tailgate still needs to be pushed. 🙄2006 TdV6 HSE.

Pick the rubber pad out and the plastic plate to gain access to the microswitch.. it doesn't brake anything. This area might be full of crud or like mine the plastic pad pivots were broken.

I believe the unit is an exact fit but the wiring connection may have to be 'modified' slightly to suit
