Autobox Shifter "Park lock solenoid open circuit"

Hi All

we are sitting here with a very peculiar fault.

2005 model D3 TDV6 S displays the following symptoms:

When cold all is well

as car gets driven and warm up (ca. 10 minutes, or 45 minutes when just idling), when shifting gear selector into park, it will no longer release, when brake is pushed and button on gear lever is pressed.

There is then also a transmission fault displayed and the gear numbers are no longer displayed in the gearbox display, when in manual mode.

We suspect the fault to be a broken wire, as all, really all connectors have been checked and cleaned.

The fault seems to be with one of the wires terminating in the big grey connector below the all terrain switch cover.

If anyone has come across this before and maybe knows, which wire is involved, then please contact me via posting or via pm.

If someone has the wiring diagram for the D3, please send me a pm with your email address, then I can reply.

Thanks in advance for any help etc.

Looks like our car is the guiney pig on this one Rolling Eyes

Once fixed I will report back. Currently the gearbox ECU (mechatronix) has been removed and sent for investigation.

Hi All

this fault has now been traced and fixed for good. Turned out to be a dislodged pin on the main gearbox plug, which made contact with the box cold, but failed when the box warmed up.

Has all been fine for the last 3 weeks.

The difficult part was the fact, that the fault was not visible from the outside.

Similar one for me but for 3.6 TDV8 RRS, clicking shifter lock solenoid while driving, not always

all plugs looks good, wires under right side carpet good as well, wires from TCM connector to shifter connector permanent, no short to ground or positive.

intermittent fault

P0930-00
P093000

Gear Shift Lock Solenoid/Actuator Circuit A Low
Solenoid circuit: short circuit to ground
Check the solenoid circuits. Refer to the electrical guides.

Problem solved, on of two shift lock solenoid wire was intermittent short to ground or to EGR pipe.

I saw same problem on two other RRS TDV8 3.6 when body was off so just taped wired as these were not melted and placed wiring loom aside from EGR pipe.

This car came with problem already and I had to trace and find where it shorts to ground, after I replaced other used shifter for check.

Much more useful info for RRS owners Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
