Big brake upgrade and back plates?

Just ordered front and rear big brake kits. One question, do the larger diameter discs still fit inside the existing back plates ? Thanks in advance.

No need to change backplates. Rear drum diameter and the shoes remain the same. (disc diameter larger). New caliper brackets move calipers out to edge of larger discs.

Front back plates are not flat, they have a saucer shape on the outside this needs to be cut outside towards centre every 3” and then hammered flat or D4 or V8 back plates fitted also, I fitted D4s they are bigger than V8 Very Happy I can’t advise on rears as I didn’t find them necessary.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The above in possibly incorrect, depending which "Big Brake" kits you have ordered

The standard plates will fit fine with the V8 upgrade

However, if you are going for 4 pot of 6 pot Brembo's, the backplates will not fit behind the front discs
And if you are fitting the 5.0 SC rear brakes, the backplates are bigger again

Thumbs Up

Thanks for the replies. I have cancelled the order and will research this evening. I have to change the rear bearings anyway so will need new back plates as original ones very rusty. 👍 never simple with the Disco!

No idea but they have been there for over 6 years now.

Problem that that is, spending that sort of money on a D3 is going to be very close to its total value Mr. Green
