V8 brakes

Just a line or two to report the 1st results.
All but the rear back plates went on...much more to remove & swap out to install these so another time..
The rear brakes are a tight fit in the 19" rims, the fronts don't look that much different.
Front 337mm as opposed to 317mm
Rear 350mm as opposed to 325
I did approx 60 miles last evening & the brakes feel very progressive not "all or nothing" as you get with some all disk set ups - no massive emergency braking to be done just yet (unless I have a reason to do this) so the next few days will tell.
The parts taken off were interesting to look at:
rears in poor state after two years on & less than 25k miles badly corroded discs both sides
the fronts badly grooved & lipped same milage.
So the new set up should give me better stopping, the brake life will only be known after a years motoring & looking. Can't be any worse
The TRW discs are nicely finished with black paint on the parts that aren't brake pad contact.

To me worth doing.

Thanks to AS factors for all the parts at really good prices + site discount.
 BREXIT - done properly.

Ok Mikey, sounds good , which of them you got? And would it benefit to use the one for the Brembos since the one for the Tdv8 helps so much ?

Same servo for 2.7 + 4.4 D3

The Brembo servo does make a huge difference to the brake feel on non-Brembo cars.
I only bought mine as it was too good a price to turn down. And see what difference it makes to mine. The pedal felt a bit "spongy" after fitting the 4 pot Brembos, and still the same with the 6 pots

Now my servo is displaying a few issues, its a perfect chance to fit it, and see what happens Thumbs Up

IMHO, don't go for budget pads. Defeats the purpose of a brake upgrade Thumbs Up

Are the Ferodo pads the same size for the TDV6 and the V8? I'm looking into doing the V8 upgrade and presume Ferodo pads are better to use then the Brembo pads that come in the Brembo kit?

Also if I'm going to use Ferodo pads then what discs would you recommend, Brembo, TRW, Borg & Beck??

All D3 brake pads are the same, between V8 and TDV6

Brembo pads will be OK to use, but are probably pricier an the Ferodo bits Thumbs Up

Hi.

Is time to change brakes on my disco. Discs and pads. I visited the AF site and I see the TRW brakes upgrades for front and rear ones.

I think that AF do a discount for Disco3 members ¿?

Thanks

Front brake disc and pads

Hi all,

I have been reading all the posts on replacing the front discs and pads. Mine need doing shortly. I tried PM,ing Yeovilparts but haven't had a reply. Does anyone have a recent contact for them?
I see a lot of posts about the V8 upgrade which I want to do, and the AF upgrade kit looks quite good, I think it's the Borg & Beck kit.
I assume these are OEM parts. How do they compare to LR originals as I've been quoted £240 from my local LR dealer.
