gutted !! Was thinking as I have a full set of rear brakes to do, shoes calipers discs etc etc perhaps if I had spare hubs, put new bushes bearings back plates etc then I could just swap them over complete as new. I’ll put a wanted add out. Jarrod

Thanks for the replies guys !!
Is it worth doing the bottom as well as top bushes then ?
Gary - good job I bought that kit you recommended for the bushes !
Mikey - your not doing a project binky on us are you ? We’ll be reading about the tdv6 disco in 5 years time lol.
Hi mate
Ur very welcome and indeed ur find that bush extraction kit an extremely useful tool
When I removed the top knuckle bush it was well in there and didn’t have any issues using that kit to remove it, saved a lot of agro
Hope u get on ok and plse let us know how it goes

No, but time (and bills ) are the issue
Have bought pretty much everything I will need to complete it, but I need a free week to do the rustproofing and painting. And a week with no income, my starts getting a bit twitchy
As well as just having a tax bill to pay
U need an apprentice
But bet ur the sort of gent who doesn’t trust anyone else to do the work

I do have an apprentice, and I trust him a huge amount
Done engine swaps all by himself, and just finishing off a Defender rechassis, also by himself

Don’t suppose you’ve got a spare pair of rear hubs knocking about ? Thinking of building a “new set” with bearings and back plates etc and then just swap them over.
I've got a "near side" hub in my scrap bin if you want it.
I put a new one on a month or so ago as i thought it was making a bit of a noise.
It's still making the noise so now have a new diff to fit when i can work up a bit of enthusiasm to do it.

Also cross referenced the leomforder bushes I bought a while back are indeed rrs ones for the lower front arms. Jarrod

Hi buddy
Good news and indeed I found that kit a godsend , did move one nut to the end of the threaded bar, easier to then get a deep reach socket on there and ratchet spanner on the other , used a smear of ceramic grease on the edges of new bearings before fitting them
Sleeves I used where the 52/62 and the 46/36
Hope that helps and all goes well

Quick question,
I'm sure the rear upper arms have been replaced within the last 3 years (genuine LR parts and fitting). Recent MOT advised play in rear upper hub bushes (both sides). Using the extraction tool, how long does this job take (per side). Cheers,

Are there any details of this extraction tool, was it self built or bought? Where from?
Is there one tool that would do upper and lower hub bushes?Joined the BMWX5 45e group
