Buying and fitting a Parrot MKi9200 |
|
Are these a pain in the to fit into a D3 SE?
Do i need any extra bits to fit them?
Looked at a few threads on here but quite a few contradictions apparently.
Thanks

Ok,
How long did it take you to install?
Why are some people saying it needs an adapter?
Thanks.

From memory it took me about 2-3 hours, i'm not sure why others state it needs a lead, but at the time i did some research and this was what i found out..
The info was from a company called www.handsfree.co.uk so i assume they knew what they were talking about If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

Or buy one of these:
http://www.carcommunications.co.uk/kram-67...-1586.html
As plug and play as it gets for your model and installed in 15 minutes. Assuming you have the hi-line stereo with HK amp in your SE? Not dismissing Grunders' approach; just giving you another, more expensive, option.
Did you consider installing a D4 Bluetooth module before buying the MKi9200? Integrates nicely with the existing stereo controls. Doesn't stream music, though, unlike the Parrot, but is completely transparent in the car.

I did briefly look into it but for the extra cost and what i want out of it, it just wasn't worth it.
Once i've cleared a few things up, i'm sure the other way will be perfectly easy to install.

I am looking at my wiring and i seem to have;
3 'mute in' wires
Line out right +
Line out right-
Line out left +
line out left -
And a yellow wire with no label but has a connector on the end?
These are the only ones that are loose, Where exactly do they go?

I have an earlier model Parrot and must say the sound quality both in and out and the Bluetooth connection is very good, but they do clutter the dash up, I don't know how these systems compare to the D4 Bluetooth installation for cost, but the LR seems a lot easier to fit and is invisible, I am seriously thinking of upgrading. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I had the Parrot MKi 9200 for a week. Couldn't fault the sound quality but the clutter on the dash did it for me. The D4 Bluetooth sound quality is equally good (if not better) as it uses the car's optic fibre MOST bus. The D4 Bluetooth will not allow you to stream music to the LR head unit, though, unlike the Parrot I had.
To do the D4 upgrade, you're probably looking at around £300 depending on whether or not you already have the steering wheel switches/microphone installed in your HSE. The D4 module is ~£175, the MOST cable is ~£40, steering wheel switches ~£40, microphone ~£40, Faultmate enablement ~£30. If you already have the steering wheel switches and microphone installed then it really is a very simple upgrade for you (assuming your microphone cable is not broken, which often seems to be the case). The only other thing you will need is to run +ve and -ve to the Bluetooth module, which you can do by fitting a piggy-back fuse to Fuse 58 (Infotainment).
Some instructions in Wiggs' gallery here:
http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...itting.pdf
Wiggs can supply the MOST cable, TLO supplied my D4 module, microphone, and steering wheel switches. Geoff. enabled me.
You are correct when you say that the installation is invisible compared to the Parrot; The only visible element of the installation is the steering wheel switches.
Very good mod, though.
