Think the air tank may be toast
Hissing sound coming from passenger side under the front door.
Investigation will start there

Yeah well that's your culprit alright, crud gets lodged on top and rots through the thin walled tank. A new tank will sort it but coat it with a Waxoyl type product to resist future corrosion yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Finally got round to replacing the tank this afternoon.
The 4 bolts that hold it in place were a nightmare, used the Irwin sockets, managed to snap one of the bolts on the front, the other turned a few times but then the Irwin socket wouldnt grip. Managed to drill the head off.
The rear was much the same, 1 bolt came off fairly easily, the other not so good, managed to get a small cutting disc in there with the angle grinder and chisel the last bit off.
The old tank didn't even have any pressure in it when I released the connection and on shaking it, can hear loads of loose rust inside.
Just in to clean up then off to test it.

Starting to get a similar problem with mine, (original compressor), though I have yet to investigate Can I ask where you got the new tank from, and does it come with the connector included at the front Sea Raider ? D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

Before I installed the new tank I sprayed the chassis with dinitrol and also gave the air tank 3 x coats of dinitrol , coppaslip on the new bolts
Hope that helps

I bought mine from a Land Rover dealer advertising on the internet and it was under £95 delivered.
I do like to use the Forum sponsors but only when they can compete.

Thanks guys, for the info, and gstuart, I tried the bolts and managed to get them out, coppaslipped them and put them back in. But would replace them and protect things if I do have to change the tank. Just had a look at mine, and sorry the voss connector is at the rear isn't it .... No hissing from the tank area, but there are 'leak tech' bubbles forming around the 2 pipe connectors on the hitachi compressor dryer cap and possibly a fine crack in between, its quite hard to see, and a small leak really, would this be enough to bring the yellow suspension light on and 'normal height only' message within about 3 or 4 minutes of starting off each day ? Or should I be looking at the wiring in the N/S F wheelarch area ?D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. Hi
Happy days u getting the bolts out, had to use some Irwin sockets and then snap
Don’t think it would do the compressor any good if you’ve got a leak on the cap, after all the pressure sensor is looking for a slow rise in pressure and feeds data back to the suspensions ECU so imagine if it doesn’t increase according to what the ecu is looking for would signify a yellow warning light
Indeed would be best to fit a new compressor cap and seeing ur removing it the silica material at the same time
At least the cap would have to be replaced regardless and see what it’s like after it’s been fitted and if any further investigation is req
Hope that helps

Thanks very much for the link gs, very helpful. I have a new compressor that has been sitting in my garage for probably 5 yrs, as mine is 13 1/2 yrs old, I may just fit the new one, but I guess the dessicant may have become possibly saturated just sitting there, don't know whether to change the stuff and fit the metal type cap before fitting, to save doing the job again. Anyone know a successful way of drying out the dessicant ?D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms.
