Newbie D3 owner here (just over 24 hrs now...) and when poking around under the bonnet I found an "Italian Speed" mod box in the battery compartment.
If I unplug the box but leave the modified wiring in place will the engine revert to normal behaviour, or does the wiring need to be returned to 'factory normal' at the same time ?
Thanks.

I've removed quite a few of these in favour of proper remaps for customers. You just disconnect the connections to the injector wiring and plug the std wiring back Into its original connections. Bodsys Brake Bible
Thanks Bodsy - I'll plug the box back in before I go home tonight then: am at the office right now so not got the tools or the clothes to go digging for the connector.
One day I'll stop trying to take shortcuts and do it properly.
Ok, no tools needed to get to the Y cable - yay ! But strewth, how does the connector ever come off the car side of things if you don't have fingers like a Lemur ? No matter how I tried (and this was climbing into the engine bay) I couldn't get enough pressure up on the clip on the underside to be able to pull the cable out. Even tried the back end of a toffee hammer and a hex wrench to try and lever it up, but couldn't get the right angle.
I've marked up the overall area:
and this is the detail:
How does the black plastic bit come off the silver hexagonal side (awesome technical descriptions are my forte...).
Should I have been taking apart the 15+ cables over the air intake so I could remove that and get more hand room, or is there a trick that I'm missing to working that connector free.
Oh, and I *assuming* there's a clip on the underside based on looking at the other end of the Y cable and how that fitted into the existing wiring. It's 100% NOT like the Italian website with it's beautifully empty engine surrounds...
And yes, the Haynes will be on order as soon as the weekend trip is over...

Trying to remember whilst sat next to the pool.... But is there a metal clip that needs to be pushed out in order of the plug to be removed?Bodsys Brake Bible
I don't think so, but I'll need a bigger set of steps to get a good look
I've seen a video where a couple of hooks from gasket removals were used to reach under and lift the catch, so I'll go tool shopping and then give it another go. A good excuse for a cheapo USB borescope whilst I'm at it too
Thanks for your help Bodsy: I'm just going to have to relax and not expect to be able do everything I want to in the one day immediately before my hols...
