Dealer has told me that they have changed the CANBUS on the 08 model and the new base stereo may not be compatable.
Anyone know anything about this change? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Found out from dealer that there are no more piggy backed modules. It is all integrated. The change should prevent major shutdown in the event of small faults.  Whatever that means.

No change there - it still uses med. speed CANBus to comunicate with the CJB, all the critical systems are on the high speed CANBus. The CJB acts as a gateway between med. and hih speed CANBus as it does with the LIN's to the seat memory module and security systems, the high-line system has a MOST between all components with the IHU acting as a med. speed CANBus interface to the CJB gateway The low line audio and high line IHU both contain the master clock function (the slave being the instrument pack) so must have inherent compatability with both CJB and instrument pack
There has been an increase in 'robustness' of discrete systems with a reduction in cascade errors across systems with the 08MY although this shouldn't affect any audio components..... maybe the dealer got the pages mixed up

Dealer was not sure whether the head unit was changed to make it compatable with the changed CANBUS. Here's hoping the changes are an improvement in the quality and design of the head unit.He just told me he will order from LR see if it fixes reception issue and argue warranty with them later.
