My alternator is currently charging at 15.1 volts, is this correct or may it damage the new battery.
T-Max split charger is suggesting a max charge of 14.5 volts Prospeed Roof Rack & Ladder

I'd have said that's a bit on the high side, mine sits usually about 14.4V

14.4 volts is what I've always believed to be the correct charging Voltage
Checked with volt meter, etc all reading 15.1 to 15.2 volts Prospeed Roof Rack & Ladder

The D3 is not an intelligent alternator as such so it will, to a point deliver whatever the battery is "asking for" that will partially be down to what type of battery it is and what its internal resistance looks like. The fact you've got two batteries now hooked together by a "dumb" device like the T max means the alternator effectively sees both batteries in parallel and therefore its whatever the parallel network can now take.
the switching in the Tmax (unless they've changed recently) is all down to voltage above a certain voltage it will connect the two batteries, below it, it will disconnect. 05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system

Both batteries have been fully charged externally prior to fitting.
The main battery is new.
Even if I disconnect the split charger and second battery the charging voltage is still over 15 volts Prospeed Roof Rack & Ladder

and what type are the batteries and how long does it stay at 15.1 volts ?
Also what else is running on the car at the same time? 05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system

Stays at 15 plus volts the major of the time, even with absolute minimum items running
Think, I may find another alternator and see if there is any difference Prospeed Roof Rack & Ladder

another alternator is a way to go - I'd probably get the batteries tested first though and if you have access to it, stick a 'scope across the battery terminals to see if there's any funnies in the wave form. That would tell you what the reg/rec is doing in the back of the alternator. Not sure what you are displaying the voltage with but whether device it is will have a sample rate and because its a regulated and rectified AC output from the alternator its not a smooth output anyway when its all fit and healthy. So you have the sample rate and the lumpy wave form meaning that your 15.1 volts is an average taken over a time period of a constantly varying signal.
I assume you've done the obvious thing of pulling the fuse to the second battery and seeing if its still the same?
For what its worth i've seen mine as high as 15.1 a few times but its much more normally at 14.4 05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system

Mine has run at pretty much 15.1/15.2 volts for the last 6 yeras, it is totally normal.
Only time it drops any lower is after a decent long run (50 plus miles) run, and the battery has finally got back up to strength, but even then you wont see it go under 14 volts until you have maybe done 100 miles non stop, I can recall seeing under 14 volts once in thoses 6 years.
These cars are very battery/power hungry.
I run a cig lighter volt meter very handy, but in reality all you want to be concerned about is to low a voltage as that means a breakdown is imminent!

15.1/15.2 is normal on first start up in cold winter weather for a D3, NOT D4, it should then drop to 14.2/14.4, this is why AGM batteries are not recommended for D3’s as they cannot accept a charge over 14.2 although they have been fitted to D3’s successfully.
Have you got a fridge in the centre cubby? - if it is switched on they are battery killers on a D3 and will flatten your battery in a few hours when the vehicle is stood. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Just switching it off will not stop the alternator charging at a high rate with low charged batteries in cold weather, that’s what it’s supposed to do. Charge both batteries up with a charger and keep the fridge off in winter, just use it when you need it and switch it off when the engine is stopped for any length of time and see how it goes, I can almost guarantee that’s your problem.
p.s. what will damage your batteries is not keeping them fully charged(13+volts). It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Which AGM batteries can't accept a charge over 14.2 ? Odyssey positively need to be charged north of 14.4V according to them 05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system

Ah the fridge - thats a killer that one, if I was to leave mine on then yes I'd see 15.1v for quite some time 05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system
