Check your wheel nuts...
Whilst at 'The Lock Up'... this is a mysterious place in the countryside where magical things happen (thanks to AndrewS)
It was discovered that of the four road wheel I have and the multitude of wheel nuts holding said wheels on my D3... two of the wheel nuts where of a very slightly larger size. Thus the (naff) wheel changing kit supplied by LR would not remove them.
Being on the same wheel was lucky / unlucky depending on how you look at it.
Good job I was at 'The Lock Up' where there are mysterious tools and stuff
Anyway, check that all your wheel nuts are the same by ensuring the wheel brace fits correctly. i.e. Ensure the nut inserts fully into the socket on the brace. Or you will discover one day with a flat tyre that you can't get the effing wheel off !

Excellent advice Simon
Amount of times i've swapped between 17 Contis and 19 MTR's mine appear to be the same size, but i've never used the LR jack/brace, always used a seperate brace.
Will check mine tomorrow.
cheers

I have one "oversize nut" on my vehicle but with care you can still get the LR brace on it without hurting yourself or the wheel.end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Slightly OT but just to confirm.
Will the wheel nuts from my original 18's [now holding on my 20's] still be ok for my newly gotten 17's.
Assume they are, but just checking.
Also is it best & easier to get another 4 wheel bolts and ditch the locking ones to make changing over easier?I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Ronp, given your propensity to attract vandals/thieves/low life scumbags, perhaps you should keep the locking wheelnuts on......
Also, Simon, I don't understand how you've got different size wheel nuts....? Are these all factory or maybe have got mixed up during servicing?Bodsys Brake Bible

So long as the wheels are LR, Ron you'll be OK. If there not, then the shoulder size of the nut etc may be different...
As for locking wheel nuts off road, i leave my locking nut on, but others do take them off.
Problem is, is when you get mud into the locking nut and you can't get the key onto the locking nut, then your trying to scrape it out - now imagine that if your upto your knees in mud...
I always give the nuts a good wash when i've finished offroading, just to get the gunk out.

Yes, Craig it's the LR D3 17's.
Think I will get an extra 4 wheelnuts for off road use only.

I had an issue with the wheel brace not fitting a couple of nuts. They were not a different size but had been slightly deformed by an over enthusiastic tyre fitter and his air wrench, the nuts have a cap that is quite soft and easily damaged. A tap with a hammer got the brace on although getting the nut out of the thing once undone was more tricky.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Maybe thats the cause... and yes Mr Bods, its the heads that are bigger / maybe deformed not the actual threaded section.
If they are deformed due to a fitters touch, then the caps are too blinking soft.
Either way... its an effing pain. I don't tend to carry a hammer in the D3
