Clutch Slip? 25k miles on new clutch?
I bought my car at 89k miles, 4k miles after a new clutch and flywheel were fitted.
It's now got 110k miles and the clutch is starting to slip. Not all the time, a couple of times when I've been towing, and a couple of times when accelerating hard in 4th or 5th.
I'm a 'mechanically sympathetic' driver, and I dont tow very often, but 25K miles on a new clutch seems a bit low.
Are there any known causes of clutch slip other than worn drive plate/cover?Richard

Yep. Got the invoices, quite a reputable garage did the job. Must just check if it itemises the actual supplier of the clutch.Richard

It could well be worn out especially as the previous owner did 4k on the new clutch before you got it, bare in mind you dont know how long the previous clutch lasted?
So you could have taken ownership of the car with a 75 percent worn out clutch, obviously an extreme example.

25,000 miles for a clutch is not right. Can clutch plate pressure springs fail on DMF clutches.
I had a D3 that got 25k to 30k from a clutch. Replacements done by main dealer and by a meticulous independent. Still failed. Parts removed never showed signs of the failure. fail was always after reversing in low range (which should not have had anything to do with it!)

In my original D3 a new clutch and flywheel were fitted at one main dealer and failed 300 miles later car went to another dealer and whole lot replaced again all under LR warrantyMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I checked the invoice, they list LR005809 as the clutch kit used, but not the specific manufacturer.Richard

Oil getting on the plate?- engine oil overfilled or rear crank oil seal leaking. Can also be cause by unknowingly driving with your foot on the clutch peddle!It can when others can't,

Have a look at the foot pedal and hydraulics. I replaced mine recently after finding that it didn't fully release the slave cylinder so it made the clutch slip.New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

That's interesting Moo, I did wonder if the hydraulics were at fault. Because its so random and doesn't happen often, I haven't been able to link the way I release the clutch pedal with the slipping.Richard

Thanks for the ideas, no oil leaks, not over filled (at least not the 2 years I've owned it), and definitely don't drive with my foot on the pedal! Richard

How did this end up? Was the dual mass flywheel replaced at the same time or recently prior to the clutch?
