CTEK & AGM Question
I've just put the CTEK on my car for a precautionary charge and a question occurred to me.......
I've never used the recondition setting on my battery - should I?
My concern is that the CTEK instructions say that basically, the reconditioning mode boils the electrolyte to mix it. However, I have an AGM battery which, as I understand it, has the electrolyte held in glass fibre matting which makes me think that boiling it is probably a very bad thing to do?
What is the correct answer? Is using a CTEK recondition setting on an AGM battery a good or bad thing to do?MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Use the AGM mode on the charger
Sorry just re read it and I guess your asking if you CAN recondition an AGM with it, sorry I don't know but there is no fail safe to stop you which you think there would be

If it was my battery I would not use the "Recon" mode.
Took out my old Land Rover battery, normal lead acid one and put it on "Recon Mode" for 24 hours, when I took it out the D3 it was holding something like 30Ah after Recon Mode it was knackered voltage was only 11v so ReCon Mode killed a cell.Dale

The latest AGM batteries charge ok with the Ctek in normal mode. I only tend to use the AGM mode on an AGM battery when it is cold. Should I ever need to use the recondition mode the battery comes out of the car and is charged somewhere safe.

If I remember the instructions properly,they recommend you use Recon mode very sparingly anyway....so I just miss it out altogether..."Better to remain silent and be thought a fool,than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

That's my instinct. I've only ever used the AGM mode.
I'm curious though because the CTEK makes the claim that you can't do any harm with it and the instructions don't say that you shouldn't use the recon mode on AGM batteries.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

The recon mode is a bit brutal and is only really there to have a go at an otherwise dead battery. If your battery already has an internal failure the recon mode will find it!Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Has anybody got the ctek 10, and if so did you get a temperature sensor with it. I've only just noticed after 7 months that there is a small cover where a temp sensor plugs in, however I don't have one , so I either threw it out , I lost it or it didn't cone with one. Can anybody shed any light on thus for me please

Yes, mine came with a temperature sensor. The one in the photo above looks a bit home made. Mine is just a small black plastic bit on a wire. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Are you sure the sensor is not just hiding amongst the accessories? It's an innocuous little black thing and easy to miss.
