D3 OEM DRL's? How to activate in a non NC car?
Is it possible to activate the DRL function?
I see that in north canada the Range Rover uses the highbeam as DRL at half power...
Is this standard on the D3 as-well?

There is a setting in the CCF for Scandinavian Daytime RunningLights and Canadian Daytime RunningLights I know that my D3 has the Scandinavian switched on, and works as intented in Norway, but what Canadian Daytime RunningLights does compared to scandinavia I have never tested.

So the DRL's on disco3 is not affected by Lux sensor?
Can the canadian CCF ble activated/switched to by me as user, or do i need special equipment to do this?
Requires IDS, Autologic or Faultmate kit to activate.

If i want to fex use the fog lights as DRL lights, i need to use the US lightsetting witch only turn on lowbeams via LUX sensor? and then rewire the foglights to a custom DRL relay witch only activates when ignition is on and headlights are off....
maybe there is a signal from lightcontroller for dedicated drl signal?

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
DRL use the full intensity low beam headlamps which are permanently illuminated
when the vehicle is being driven. DRL are used in a number of markets and there are two systems to cover these markets.
DRL CANADIAN MARKET
DRL for this market use full intensity low beam headlamps. The side marker lamps, tail lights, and license plate lamps will be on, but instrument cluster illumination will be off.
DRL are active when the following parameters are met:
a) Parking brake is off on vehicles with manual transmission, or PARK is not selected on vehicles with automatic transmission.
b) Ignition switch is in the ignition position (II).
c) The central junction box receives an engine running signal.
d) The lighting control switch is in the off, auto, or side lamps position.
NOTE:
If the lighting control switch is moved to the headlamp position, DRL are deactivated and normal side lamp and headlamp functionality is operational.
NOTE:
Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) (where fitted) is not available when the DRL are active.
NOTE:
When DRL are active, the headlamp flash function using the left hand steering column multifunction switch will operate normally. The high beam headlamp function using the left hand steering column multifunction switch will be deactivated.
When the parking brake is applied on manual transmission vehicles or the selector lever is in the PARK position on automatic transmission vehicles, DRL are turned off. This is to reduce battery discharge during long periods of engine idling in cold climate conditions. When the parking brake is released or the selector lever is moved from the PARK position, normal DRL functionality is restored.
DRL DENMARK, HOLLAND, NORWAY, SWEDEN, FINLAND & POLAND
DRL for these markets use full intensity low beam headlamps. Side lamps and license plate lamps will be on, but instrument cluster illumination will be off.
DRL are active when the following parameters are met:
a) Ignition switch is in the ignition position (II).
b) The central junction box receives an engine running signal.
c) The lighting control switch is in the off position.
NOTE:
When DRL are active, the headlamp flash function using the left hand steering column multifunction switch will operate normally. The high beam headlamp function using the left hand steering column multifunction switch will be deactivated.
d) If the lighting control switch is moved to the side lamp or headlamp positions, DRL are deactivated and normal side lamp and headlamp functionality is operational.

I may have found a solution to this after spening hours of studying workbooks and wirediagrams...
Simply rewire the DRL relay current to foglightrelay.
I have added a diode so no current will go the wrong way...
Now only foglights will lit on daytime, and no other lights.

Edit: Does not work ! New wiring diagrams will be added.

Doesnt your lights come on automatically with the car ?? is it used imported ?
Your solution sounds logical, but why just use the fogs as DRLs ?

Just for info , I set my 2005 D3 manual to Canada daylight runninglights today using AUTOLOGIC - With engine running, headlights are controlled as normal with light switch - runninglights only come on when handbrake is dis engaged - when ready to move off. No dash lights on and only rear lights on.

yes, but i want to save fuel and bulbs. I can replace to foglight bulb with LED. That way i will get automatic DRLs in front with LED. 120watt saved all day.
The fogs are never allowed to be used anyway in norway as you may know =)
A other positive thing with this, is that the cable from the DRL relay may be used with real dedicated DRL units also =)

My first mod did not work, as the disco3 are not using traditional relays.
I made a new mod that works.
In "auto",
the front foglights only will light up at day,
at night the xenon and parkinglight will light up.
Simple mod with a relay behind the light-switch.
No cutting or rewiring. Just hook up with existing cables behind the switch.
DRL's must be deactivated to make this ned mod work.
Will add a how-to later.
