Preventive maintenance, however its been faultless over the 5yrs. I think the D3 has resulted in us buying our first new LR since 1999
Had to do and doing are two different things. For example I changed the belts and tensioners and all oils when I first bought it but they didn't need doing. Similarly I changed the disc and pads all round back to genuine LR as I wasn't happy with the braking performance compared to my other vehicles (big difference).
Its a fairly long list. and classic Discovery. Locks / brake lines / condensor / parking sensors / front arms / air valve blocks / fuel strap / front struts (bargain so had to buy) / propshaft etc
I could have probably got away with doing minimal but that would be boring
Also not too bad on fuel. 23mpg on an 100miles run at the weekend. 17mpg typical urban / extra urban. 10mpg around town!

True pjm. List for maintenance can be endless... But it pays back in stress free ownership. I did the same with my D3 - changed all fluids, brake discs, lower steering, rods etc.. Investigated every knock and behaviour change shortly after purchase.

Did the 2005 HSE have those handles on the side of the front head rests?

Don't panic.
I told the Mrs that I thought it was worth 6k ( hence I thought the other at 5k was cheap) but forgot about the V8 number plate (cant really put this on a CH-R hybrid and it would be heresy to put it on the P400). The V8 plate needs to stay with the vehicle
Did mention about putting the V8 in the garage as a spare, for when the P400 broke down, and that went down like a lead balloon.

Just out of interest there are no head rest handles on my 2009 HSE. Perhaps I bought a dodgy one🧐

My 2009 HSE has headrest Handles (The Toby Jug Ears) I think as they were running out the D3 they put a lot of D4 bits on if they were short on D3 bits to get them out of the door Must stop buying shiny toys....

I’ve got rear entertainment so not sure if that makes a difference.
