D4 towing electrics

D4 towing electrics

If I fit the 13pin towing loom to a D4, does it/anything need to be "enabled" for it to work, or is it like D3 where it works OK without the car being trailer enabled.

No .. It has to be enabled on the D4 .. Including selecting which type of electrics you have fitted G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Hmmm

OK - another question - does the D4 towing loom have the small fuse block as per D3, or are D4 trailer wiring fuses somewhere else. I ask as on the D3, I had to uprate the perm 12v fuse to 20A to cater for the ALKO ATC.

just getting a price from TLO for the wiring loom.

In the D3 fuse block for the towing leccies, the 12v perm was only fused at 15A, and the first outing with the new 'van with ATC blew the fuse. On the ALKO site it says this needs to be 20A.

Al, don't think the D4 loom has any fuses like the D3 has, at least I can't see any on mine.
As has been said by others, if you don't get it enabled it doesn't disable rear parking sensors when van is on.
The other thing that having it enabled does, is that it disables the car's rear fog lights so that if you need rear fog lights on they only come on on the van. You don't get that terrible red reflection from the car's fog lights on the front of the van which is very distracting.

Blimey - lucky man. None of the dealers round here would do that. Always charge, even if its already with them.

so I can fit the loom, and it will work, but enabling would be handy, but could get that done later.

Just need to check on 12v perm fuse location/size then.
