Damaged cables behind battery

Hey,

Had my disco 3 since April and have just noticed these cables from behind the battery that look like they have been crimped and am just wondering if anyone knew what they are? And best way to fix them? I was thinking soldering them then heat shrink over it.

Also on a side note my Gap iid tool is saying i have alot of software updates are they worth doing?

Just paint then over with liquid rubber, they should be fine. They look like they have had scotch locks in them. The blacks are just earth anyway.
