Dealer Offer - Servicing

Hi All,

Recently picked up my new D4 HSE and was offered a 'special deal' to build up via 18 interest free payments, a servicing fund. It included a 10% discount. Effectively it was to build up a fund equating to about £860 (after the discount) and which covers the first 2 services including oil replacement.

Now, even with the discount, this sounded like a lot of money to cover only the first two services on a brand new vehicle, especially when you consider that marques such as Volkswagen can offer 3 year servicing deals for £250. Is D4 servicing really this expensive, and if so, does this sound like a good deal? I haven't taken the deal but have the option to do so.

Thanks for your feedback.

Don't expect any change out of £400 for each service based on previous ownership of a Freelander2. Premium pricing for a premium brand. The offer helps lock you into the dealer and in return you should be better off in terms of some saving, discount or no increase in parts prices etc. I opted out but will still plan to go back to my dealer for the service in 12 mths etc. Prefer the money in my bank.

Best to phone around a few dealers & ask for their BEST price, shout the word at them, then judge if it's a good price. 20 mins on the phone could save couple if hundred spondoolies! LR might be a premium brand, unlike their reliability, but you don't need to pay the asking price, haggle man, haggle! Thumbs Up

£1100.00 for first 4 services.

I took it. Very Happy
