Disco 3 suspension woes (what a surprise!!)

I have a suspension problem/query on my D3 and if this has been covered before I do apologise, please point me in the right direction!!

I have a 57 plate D3 that has a suspension system that seems to have a mind of its own. When stationary it works perfectly and goes through all heights evenly and swiftly. UP-DOWN, DOWN-UP, it works fine!

However when driving I get a note on the dashboard saying HDC fault, then a suspension fault, then a transmission fault. It then says is lowering the suspension down to the lowest setting which is then does. This is all accompanied by many audible warnings!! It’s very worrying...

Can you please offer any help and/or advice?? I’m really worried it’ll be something that never gets sorted or that it’ll be something that costs the Earth.

Many thanks to you all in advance.

This is general limp home mode. Any number of problems can cause it, you need to get the codes read or it's all a guessing game.

Codes will point you to the problem, could be something simple like a blown bulb, faulty brake switch, abs sensor etc (all 3 under £20 to sort)

I’ll bet that, believe it or not, that this is due to a faulty brake light switch.... as they age there gets a carbon build up which creates an tiny arc when the brakes are pressed...

The electronics on a D3 are so so sensitive that this difference throws up a fault in the system which will in turn create the faults you mention...

The switch is cheap as chips and most D3 owners keep a new one as a spare!

Tyre pressures?
Tyre sizes all the same, and worn the same?
Wheel bearing?
As said codes essential.
Where in Kent roughly?

Thanks a million for all the suggestions so far...

Do I need a specific computer program to get the code(s) or do I need to be good friends with a mechanic??

I’m in Margate so if anyone knows someone good with the tools near there that would be triple handy!!

Thank you all so much...

Hi Grifterkid,

If you’re just going to need something going forward to read / reset codes and do calibrations etc, get yourself one of these
https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/autel-bluet...ight=Ap200

Cost less than the price of getting your codes read once at a dealer

Seconded for the Autel. It’s ideal if you just need to read codes to help identify a fault. As above, it could be any one of a number of things but the codes will help a lot.
