Disco Shutting Down

My Disco 3 has been shutting its self down on the odd occasion .
Everytime has been when I have wanted to put my foot down towing or just in a hurry.
As soon as I switch off the ignition & restart off we go as if nothing had happened.

Any surgestions ?

I've had something similar. I had a remap done and all was ok for a couple of months. Then I stuck my large twin axle caravan on the back loaded with 6 people, luggage and a loaded roof box. On the way to Folkestone, I had an Engine system fault come up and power reduce to get home mode. A simple stop, engine off and key out and it reset to normal. This started to happen more often until on the way home from France, the fault came up every time I started it. Resetting it with the diagnostics at my independant did not help. We reprogrammed the whole system and still no joy. The diagnostics show no boost pressure and the inlet manifold pressure switch was removed and was covered in an oily sludge, All hoses seem ok, it has used oil from full to low during the trip but that may be due to having to rev it to 4k plus to get up the hills on the way home. We are thinking that if it has been burning oil,the variable vanes in the turbo could be just as contaminated and stuck. It has done just over 25k at the moment
HELP - ANY IDEAS PLEASE

What remap did you have ?

Have you asked the company to remove the map to see if it cures the issue ?

Doubt the remap is the issue - as he says they 'reprogrammed the whole system'.... sounds like an air induction leak, in both cases it seems that towing has caused you to use high revs, this does not provide high levels of torque but just noise - max torque for a TDV6 is about 2400 rpm.
Oil being 'burnt' is not necassarily the case due to the CGI engine block absorbing oil during the first 5k miles or so, oil on the turbo vanes wouldn't happen unless the turbo was suffering bearing failure
you both need to go to a dealer to get the DTC's analysed and resolved

I had something like this on my old landcruiser. The engine would just cut out for no apparent reason. Garage were left scratching their heads thinking maybe turbo problems but turned out to be loose connection to the battery, made worse by the trailer lights being hooked up. Probably not your problem but worth checking.

More than likely, Turbo is faulty Big Cry

There is a tech. bulletin about it. Get the fault codes checked, just to be sure
