Welcome from a fellow recent V8 owner. Our mpg might be low but smiles per miles makes up for it. It was recommended to me to change the coolant bleed valve. Simple and cheap, part no. LR027661.

Congratulation!
I use my LR3 mainly for family trips, too.
We‘ve been to France, Spain, Italy and this year to Croatia, Albania and Greece.
Travelling with Defenders, Landcruiser, VW camper van and Unimog I wouldn‘t switch with any of them. IMHO long distance driving comfort is unchallenged, but I guess you know that already
I‘ve added a Bush Company aluminium roof top tent, Rhino Batwing, AT KO2, tree sliders, ladder ect.
But the most valuable camping gear is the IIDtool‘s levelling feature for uneven ground since we do some wild camping.

Service/Test > RLM-Suspension > Test Valves
You can set each wheel or axle individually. Then enable ‚Build mode‘ to keep this position. In the morning disable ‚built mode‘ and you should be back to your default driving settings. I‘m not 100% sure if the whole ‚built mode‘ is really necessary but it works for me.

I bought this 2005 V8 Petrol last week. 1 owner, 55k miles and FLRSH.
It will be used primarily for camping trips next year with a couple of longer overland trips in the future.
Over the winter I will add a James Baroud roof tent, a cargo barrier, boot organisation, AT tires, dual battery system and a refrigerator as a minimum. Pending decisions are smaller 18" wheels (steel or alloy and only if they fit over the V8 brakes). If I can find them at the right price I'll add a RAI, nudge bar, rear steps and spots but no rush.
It will get an additional service before it's first long trip in the spring (bringing it from the UK to Norway for the Summer). A 'regular' service but was thinking of a gear box flush and a diff fluid change as extra, I'll be picking brains and open to hearing from experienced owners.....
Have a great day!
Graeme.
Congratulations on a pretty unique find. Love the colour. My V8 was also a low mileage one owner car when I got it a few years back.
Things to consider. If you have a sunroof, get the elbows changed for the latest type as the originals will rot away, if they have not already done so. Wet carpets are no fun and the electrics run in the channels that the water gets into.
Clean the throttle body, clean the MAF sensor and change the pcv. All those 3 are easy diy jobs. Keep an eye on the temp gauge and if it sits a bit low as opposed to horizontal you may need to change the thermostat.
Atlantic British have a good range of videos on youtube on this model.

That must be very rare......
Eyes are wandering at the moment for a replacement for mine. However every time I drive it its reprieved. The other constraint is the Wife. Her control over the savings would put Marget Thatcher to shame.

Hi all - just joined the D3 club with a 2006 V8 HSE in Bonatti Grey with 156k miles on the clock. Not had much chance to play with it but looking forward to giving it a long run at the weekend.
I followed threads on here as to what to look for but I'd really appreciate any tips on things to do straight away as a new owner. I think it's on its original air compressor - wondering whether I should just upgrade now or wait for the original to show signs of going? Also assuming I should have the auto gearbox flushed as a precaution?
Any advice gratefully received - already learned loads from the forum so thanks!

Welcome to the V8 D3 club.
First job - Sunroof, get the drain elbows changed for the latest type as the originals will rot away, if they have not already done so. Wet carpets are no fun and the electrics run in the channels that the water gets into. Lots of threads on here about how to do it. Don't waste your time just cleaning them out.

an 8.6-second 0-62mph time, which would be delivered at the sort of nose-up angle of a climbing Airbus....
