Easylift/ Xlifter
Hi all,
I am considering installing either Xlifter or Easylift as it will help with hooking up the caravan and other trailers, and allow me to enter my local waste disposal site without hitting the barrier because the team there refuse to open it and insist it is tall enough!
I am however worried about how it would affect my insurance and my LR extended warranty.
I’d expect to declare it on my insurance, which is fine as I’ve got all my mods declared on my Defender, but how does it affect my warranty?
I can’t seem to find out on either of the sites, and I’m reluctant to call the warranty people because they are hellish to deal with and I assume it would be a flat no with zero discussion, either because they don’t know and it’s easier to say no or it’s not permitted but I don’t think I’d find out which no it is!
I’ll likely drop both companies a mail to ask but I thought I’d ask on here as well as there is loads of knowledge here.
Cheers

At the least, it would invalidate the warranty on anything that it relates to the suspension as you would be modifying it.
I had a reply from LRCC regarding my D5 when I installed the winch... They said that it would only invalidate the warranty on parts that are modified/affected by the installation.
For example... If the engine starts to leak oil, it would still be covered unless they can show that my modification had an impact on the engine.
BUT... If my bumper suddenly started to fall off, it would NOT be covered as I had to remove the bumper to fit the winch.
I imagine it would be the same for you.

well Massimo from LR Passion is on here somewhere !
I think the only time it would effect your insurance would be if you used it to change the ride height on the road05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system

You can use the keyfob to adjust the height of the car from outside when hooking up a trailer or caravan.
Put the hazard lights on and holding down the headlight button, use the unlock button to raise and the tailgate button to lower. The doors/tailgate must be closed while doing this.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Easylift doesn’t alter any of the installed components for the suspension, it uses the same system as LR installed but allows you to mask height settings and adjust them whilst the LR controls are in standard height.
I can’t see any warranty issue as nothing OEM is altered or removed , it’s a simple plug in unitAltox GSM FBH controller thread

I'm Easy Lift developer so feel free to ask me technical or commercial information.
About the warranty, when in Neutral Easy Lift is not visible from diagnostic tools and, in case, is very easy and fast to remove it
About your need, I tow often my Hobby Caravan across EU, my last "pre covid" holiday in caravan was in Cornwall. I use EL to "align" tow bar height and always have the caravan straight.
If you need Easy Lift here, Beanie is your man

Thanks for all the replies, I’m happy to install the module myself, the guides are very good and I’m confident enough with tools.
I’m sure if I declare to my insurance it’ll be fine and if the car goes for warranty work it can be removed as easy as it’s installed.
You pays your money and takes the chance I guess.
Another point to make is that after the most recent debacle I’ve had with my local LR dealership, the Disco won’t be going back there but to an independent specialist anyway.
I can maybe get excited about a new toy now to make hooking up the new ‘van easier, if it ever gets built!Current Stable

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies, and thanks for the offer to help Beanie.
I’ve decided to go for the Xlifter as I prefer the user interface of the control box rather than the knob, and I like the compressor temperature monitoring. I know it’s more expensive for the same functionality, it’s just my preference.
Cheers folks!

Hi Beanie I've just joined this group so can't post messages to individuals yet. I'm really interested in this easylift module. Can you message me details on purchasing one from you.
Many thanks Jake

Easy Lift - Purchase - USA
I too am very interested in the EL. I currently have Johnson Rods--just installed. But am not happy with the highway ride height, which seems to have increased the road noise--to my ears--dramatically. Not sure how this site works--have never used an online board before. I'd like to direct this message to Beanie. Please help and PM me if possible. Many thanks!
