ECU Upgrades

Hi All,

Looking for some advice on ECU upgrades/re-flashing. I’ve got a 2005 D3 HSE and recently bought a GAP IID to sort my own fault codes out.

From looking through the IID options I see I’ve got various ECU upgrades. These are to things like navigation, body control, transition etc and I was wondering if anyone had experience of these and any advice on whether I should do the upgrades.

I’m no DIY expert when it comes to electrics as I’ve only had the IID for a few weeks. The main things I’d like to know are:

-What difference would I notice.
- would you recommend doing upgrades.
-Anything to be aware of

Thanks all.

The good stuff:

BCM - nudge to get 3 flashes when turning... so like any modern car
IPC - flash “ IPC MY07+ for pre MY07” to get clock on dash, handy but one can live without

The bad stuff:
Satnav on move but it’s pretty useless since the satnav is very useless Mr. Green

The rest - I'd stay away unless you have an issue. There is a (via fast lane service) a upgraded image for the transmission to reduce something called “California stop” (rolling to stop and then kicking the gas pedal results in a clunk). Before you start doing thst read the forums and make sure you understand the issue, how to recover, etc.

All the normal warnings of having a reliable power source when flashing. read the manual, etc. apply.
